The Kids and Daddy broke Mummy!

Hi everyone, another quick post.

Yesterday, we were doing one of my bucket list things to do, whale watching, and boy did I need that bucket!!

Andy and the girls had a whale (excuse the pun) of a time!  I unfortunately spent the whole 4 hours of the cruise, attempting not to be sick and lost the battle about 60 minutes before the end :-(

I don't think I have been that ill since I was in my early twenties and had been to an RAF all nighter LOL.

So I did get to see one whale - through the corner of my eye, when I quickly looked up at one time.

Luckily for me, Andy and the girls both took some fabulous photos so I get to see those instead.

Guess I won't be going on any sort of cruise ever again!

Today we are off clothes shopping, for the girls, in Waterloo, NY - time to break Daddy LOL :-)

Get back home late tonight and to our lovely cat Jess - who has been looked after with daily visits by our good friends.

Happy crafting everyone.

PS - you really don't want to see a picture!

  1. Oh Karon, I'm so sorry to hear that, what a flipping shame. I'd be really miffed if it was me. Hope today is good for you and you get to some craft shops. Love P.

  2. Karon, I'm glad the the girls and the DH had a great time but I wish it would have went better for you. What a pity to spend 4 hours and only get just a quick glimpse of a whale -- I'm sorry. I feel so bad for you and I hope you're now feeling much better.

Hubby and I have taken yearly cruises for over 25 years and have never gotten sick, but a smaller boat will get me sick every time... lol! So I know how yoou felt!

Hope shopping with the girls was fun!

    1. Hi Audrey - thank you. Just one of those things my body obviously doesn't like. Managed to get some lovely new clothes for the kids, just a starter as they seem to always need new clothes lately. But it was a good day and we were all glad to get back in the house last night and sleep in our own beds again.

  5. Oh, Karon, I feel bad for you. Now I will not agree to go whale watching with my kids and husband, they are asking for it, but you proved I am right that all I know become sick during the trip.

    Hope you feel better.

    1. It was really horrible for me:-( Still feeling a little out of sorts 3 days later; boy was I glad to get off that boat! At least the kids now know that is why I don't go on any theme park rides! :-)

  8. Awww so sorry you were sick :(
I don't think I would be able to do it, as I get car sick if I sit in the back of a vehicle.
I think photos would be awesome ;)

    1. Hi Tracy - I'm the same, have to be a front seat passenger or driving. I will post some of the whale pictures once I have had chance to go through them.:-)

  9. Dear Karon, so sorry you had such a sick time on your whale watching trip. Here is a remedy for you: http://www.sea-band.com/seaband.htm

I learned about these "Sea Bands" from a pregnant friend of mine in 1985. I have endured motion sickness since I was a child (most often brought on trying to read while riding in the back seat of the car, ha-ha!). In 1985, we had a boat and I was miserable as I gamely tried to "enjoy" our jaunts on the ocean. Different medicines helped, but I was half-asleep or had other side effects. Your whale-watching experience is reminiscent of my sail boat ride one time. Ugh.

Once I started using Sea Bands, all that stopped. Just wear them, and when you feel the least bit sick, press on the beads at your wrist - HARD, until the queasiness subsides. Otherwise, enjoy clear-headed and anxiety-free motor-trips, boat rides and airplane journeys. I promise.
