Fairy Wishes!

Hi everyone, this is my 100th post!  Where has the last four and half months gone?

I know I keep saying this, but its true, I'm loving these digi stamps.

This one is also from Mo's Digital Pencil its the second in a set of 6 digis.

I have once again used the DCWV Stack Blossoms and Butterflies, for the two top layers.  The bottom layer is some from my scraps.

Used my pencils and Gamsol. Inked the edges of the fairy and the sentiment, with pink.

The sentiment is another freebie from When the Scrap Hits the Fun.

My traditional little bit of ribbon and a bow to finish off.

Isn't she cute:-)

This card is being entered in the following challenges.

Simply Christmas #7

Christmas is coming the robin's getting fat, please put a penny in the old man's hat!  I know, it's supposed to be goose, but this robin is no goose LOL.

One of my bloggie friends hadn't heard this rhyme before and I thought I would share you the rhyme it comes from, me being British an' all:-) (Now Canadian!)

Christmas is coming, the goose is getting fat
Please put a penny in the old man's hat
      If you haven't a penny, a ha'penny will do
If you haven't got a ha'penny, then God bless you!

Another digi image, this time a freebie from Angelique's blog Sliekje's Digi Stamps - please check out her blog - she has absolutely amazing freebies.

My robin is more like the sweet UK robin, I miss so much.  They are so small and have the most beautiful song.

The sentiment is a little wooden stamp, from an age old supply of mine.  I stamped it and then inked the edges of the circle and the image layer with red ink.  Both these layers are raised up on pop dots.

The backing paper is from a Recollections paper Christmas pack - sorry I'm not sure what its called.

A little ribbon to finish it off, hey I even managed to get the double sided ribbon tied properly so that the red showed on both tails :-)

Simply Christmas #6

So keeping with the digital stamps for the time being, I thought I'd share another one with you.  I'm really enjoying making these.

The colouring is quite relaxing and I'm finding these are easier to pull together, as once I have the image done, I work from that for the papers.

So this is an image from Dearie Dolls Digi Stamps  , its called "Taste the snow", you really must go and check out her blog its amazing and all her digis are free.

I coloured around the edges of the snowman circles with a little blue to make him look more icy cold.  Isn't it a cute image.

I inked all the edges of the layers with a little blue ink.  Added a bit of ribbon and popped up the middle image layer.

I hope you like these latest cards.  Its certainly a learning curve and am progressing :-)

This card is being entered in the following challenge.

Halloooooooweeeen!

This is my one and only Halloween card.  Made this purely to enter some challenges:-)  Selfish, I know!

Not really into Halloween, but I really like this freebie pumpkin from SK Digis.  And there are a few challenges out there at the moment that this could be entered in.

I once again paper pieced this digi, 4 layers.  I also used Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress ink on the pumpkin to make it look a little dirty.

The sentiment is from the dollar bucket at Michaels, as is the ribbon.

I added some embroidery thread for the vines - that was really fiddly and I almost ruined the card.  Live and learn, don't forget to add the embellisments!

The backing paper is from a Tim Holtz Seasonal Stack.

And so we are done.

This card is being entered in the following challenges.

SK Digis - Challenge #3: Halloween (closes 30 Sept)

Delving into Digis!

I seem to be losing my mojo!

So on the weekend I decided to try and give digi stamps a serious go.  I have only coloured a couple of complete digis, I have paper pieced one and the other was a snowman (loads of colouring on that one LOL).

I am thinking of maybe investing in some Spectrum Noir markers - as I find that the Copics are just way to expensive.  In the meantime, I am using some Artist Loft pencils and Gamsol.

Here is the little fairy I did on the weekend, what do you think?

I won a challenge earlier in the year and got a voucher for some Mo's Digital Pencil images.  This comes from a set of 6 which you can find here.

I think he came out OK, I'm learning to blend and things.  I only have the one skin tone though so maybe he could do with a little pink to blush him up a little.

The sentiment is a freebie digi from When the Scrap Hits The Fun.  I thought it was quite appropriate for the little lady bug:-)

The designer paper is from a DCWV Premium Stack called The Blossoms & Butterflies Stack.  Its full of beautiful prints and they are foiled too.

So, let me know what you think and any advice would be much appreciated.

Simply Christmas #5

Hi everyone, hope you are all had a lovely weekend.  Happy Monday.

"Deck the halls with bows of holly, fa la la la laa, la, la, la, laaaaaaaaaaa!!"

I enjoyed making this one and I really like the little ornaments.

The base is 6.5" by 5".

Layer 1 is cut at 6.25" by 4.75" and then layer 2 is cut at 6" by 4.5".  This second layer was embossed with the Cuttlebug and the Snowflakes folder.

The roundish ornaments are from the Winter Frolic cartridge (page 64) and cut at 1.5".

The middle ornament is from the Art Philosophy cartridge (page 47), however I enlarged a hook from the same as above to add to this ornament and I added a little bling to the centre.

The sentiment is from the Winter Frolic cartridge (page 64) and cut at 2.5".

The sentiment layer is from the Art Philosophy cartridge (page 55), I sized this to be 3" high by 3.5" wide.  I inked the edges a little and popped this up for some depth.

The little bit of holly is from the Winter Frolic cartridge (page 58), I used Hide contour as I only wanted the holly and this was  cut at 1.25".  I added some 3D Clear gloss to the berries to give them a little shine.

And there you go another card done for this year.  I hope this is making you think about getting started on yours:-)

Simply Christmas #4

Another day closer to Christmas and it seems to be creeping up on us, it will be here before you know it.  I hope this latest little series is giving you a bit of inspiration to get some Christmas crafting done.

This card was made using a digi stamp from SKDigis, called Snowman 2.  I printed it off a couple of times and then coloured the pieces with pencils and gamsol.

I decided to build the snowman in a couple of layers to make her a little more 3D.

The card base is 6.5" by 5".  The backing paper is from my old stash from the UK.

A little bit of orange/peach ribbon to pick up on the colour of the nose and flowers.

Also, some of that lovely glittery wool and some bling to finish off the flowers.

I didn't put a sentiment on this one, as I felt the backing paper did that for me.

A very quick and simple card to share with you.

This card is being entered in the following challenges.

Simply Christmas #3

Hi my crafting friends, hope you are all having a good week so far.

Today's card is a little bit of a mish mash of cartridges.

Don't ask where the idea came from - it just seemed to come together.

Now, we all love pandas, right?  Well I do, and what better than to get a cuddly one for Christmas in your stocking.

For now, this is as close as your going to get.

Well, where do I start? The card base is a standard 6.5" by 5".

The panda is from the Pagoda cartridge (page 36) cut at 3".  I cut him in half, so that he would sit in the stocking.  I also used little pearl dots for his eyes.

For his arms, I actually used the easter egg from the Art Philosophy cartridge (page 57) cut at 0.75".

The stocking is also from the Art Philosophy cartridge (page 67) this was made fatter and measures approximately 4" high by 3.25".  The heel and toe were embossed with the Cuttlebug and the Snow flakes folder.

His little hat is from the Winter Frolic cartridge, its actually part of the Santa on page 53.  I used the Santa and shift, and Santa and layer - but used hide contour and just cut the hat.  It is cut at 1.25".

I added some sparkly white wool to his hat and the top of the stocking, and a miniature pom pom for the top of his hat.

Finally, the sentiment is also from the Winter Frolic cartridge (page 58, Phrase and Phrase shadow) cut at 1.5".  I lost the little dot for the i, as I wasn't paying attention, so added an itsy bitsy gem.

Hope you like my cute little panda.

This card is being entered in the following challenges.

Smell the roses.

Hi everyone, its that time of the month for me to share a project with all our friends and followers over at She's A Sassy Lady and of course with all you lovely peeps!  I hope you are all having a good week so far.

I'm currently loving this Recollections paper called Timeless, and my 8" by 3" card bases. After all, I am trying to use up my stash of pre-folded cards.

The first layer was cut at 7.75" by 2.75", and the second 6.75" by 1.75".  I wanted to show more of the bottom layer on this one. I inked all the edges of my layers with Tim Holtz Distressed Ink, Tea Dye.

The flowers are from the Art Philosophy cartridge, (page 69, Font Shift) cut at 3" and 2.5".  Its the first time I have actually got round to using this particular flower and I'm really pleased how they turned out.  I added a small pearl dot in the centre of each flower, and I have used glimmer mist on the flowers but it doesn't show up in the photo.

The leaves are also from the Art Philosophy cartridge (page 43, Branch 1) cut at 3" length.  I embossed the leaves with a stylus to make them look a little more realistic.

The sentiment is from the CTMH stamp set that came with the Art Philosophy cartridge.  The layers for the sentiment were cut at 3.25" by 1.25" and 3" by 1" and I popped this up using foam dots.

A little bow to finish off the card and I promise to have something a little more exciting next time :-)

This card is being entered in the following challenges.

Simply Christmas #2

I know, I know - another Chirstmas card.

I have decided to do a little series of Christmas cards (not another series I here you say!), so this will be the second.  I may incorporate some of my folds from a previous series; the easy ones though, after all this is meant to be "Simply Christmas".

I'm going to edit this post later - feel I need to redo the Sentiment, going to put green, then white and silver glitter.

However, this one is just a straight forward standard square card base, 5" by 5".

Here's the alternate, I used the white and silver glitter.  I think this second one looks a lot better.  Let me know what you think :-)

The embossed layer is the Snowflakes folder with the Cuttlebug.

The trees are from the Winter Woodland cartridge (page 37) and cut at 2.5".  I added sliver glitter to the white tops and popped up the middle tree.

The sentiment is from the Winter Frolic cartridge (page 46) cut at just over 1" as I wanted the width to be 3.25".  I used the phrase shadow and then added red glitter to the main wording. I placed this on pop dots too.

White gel pen for the faux stitching and some red Christmas ribbon, to finish off.

This card is being entered in the following challenges

Avadares Challenge Blog - Challenge #3: Make it Sparkle (closes 27 Sept)

DL ART Thankful Thursday - 1000 Post Linky Party (closes 30 Sept)

Christmas is back - oh no!! (Simply Christmas #1)

Happy weekend everyone!  This is my second post today, because the earlier post was scheduled and I wanted to share this one with you.

In between getting my laundry done, I'm messing about in my craft room.

I have a few simple ideas (and I do mean simple) for some Christmas cards and thought I would give them a go.  So I will be bombarding you with a few to get you in the Christmas spirit.

I won't post them all on one day, as I don't want to scare you away from visiting me, besides, it means I'll have a few posts already prepared (big smiley).

This card was made with a specific challenge in mind, 2 Sisters Challenge #109 - is Black and White plus one other colour and an optional extra of glitter.

Mine is black/white and silver and I heat embossed the snowflake and sentiment with Winter Wonderland embossing powder to give it that lovely sparkle.  Even the wool has sparkles in it too.

The backing paper is from an age old stash from the UK.

The snow flake from the Art Philosophy cartridge (page 30, Layer) is cut at 2.5".

The sentiment is from the Winter Frolic Cartridge (page 29, Phrase) is cut at 2.25".

If you click on the above photo the glitter shows a lot more :-)

So that's it - a quick post and a quick card. Pretty boring really LOL!

I found some other challenges I could enter this one into - so here goes.

Going Buggy: September Challenge - Ho Ho Ho, a Christmas card  no red or green (closes 30 Sept)

Cute Card Thursday: Challenge 234 - Christmas in September (closes 19 Sept)

Just Keep On Creating: Christmas is just around the Corner (closes 30 Nov)

Thanks for stopping by today.

Happy crafting.

Don't Forget! And just a bit of fun!

Hi everyone, this is just a gentle midway reminder, for Pin and Tack's Spark Your Creativity Now challenges.

Challenge #1 Anything Goes is up and running until the end of the month, so you still have plenty of time to enter your creations.

I thought I would share with you a little fun project using vinyl.

My husband has a website called Chilled SQL, (he's an IT Consultant and Data Base Analyst [DBA]), its way over my head LOL!

Anyway, he has a little mascot on his page called Chilly DBA, here he is:

So he wanted me to put something on the computer housing unit.  And I came up with a penguin off of the Winter Frolic cartridge.

Now I didn't have any blue vinyl, so pencils and Gamsol to the rescue - it worked really well (I think).  I coloured them first, before weeding, and then used the Gamsol to even it out a little.

And here's a close up of the penguin, isn't he cute.

We decided to add his name too.  So here he is in all his glory - Chilly DBA.

I used the A Childs Year cartridge for the font and snow flakes and for the little icicles I used George and Basic Shapes to elongate a triangle.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Well 'Owl Be!

Hi there my crafty buddies.  I didn't think I would get this done, and I'm cutting it a bit fine but...

I have today tried some paper piecing.  The owl digital stamp is from SKdigis Shop, I was lucky enough to be one of the blog candy winners for the SKdigis new challenge blog.

When I saw this owl in the shop, I just had to have him and knew he would be a great paper piecing project.

So here he is.

I printed him out 7 times on different coloured card stock and then cut out all the different layers.

Did you spot my error!  I forgot to cut out the bits in between the branches, doh! Good if you didn't cause I have fixed it now LOL!

The embossed layer is the Devine Swirls folder with the Cuttlebug.  I inked all the edges of the layers.

The sentiment is a freebie digital from the Pink Cat Studios, she has some lovely sentiments.

I really enjoyed doing this and made a right mess on the floor in my craft room! But, he was worth it as I think he is so adorable.

So, just another quick (ish) card to share with you today.

This card is being entered in the following challenges

A Bit o' Stampin' !

Hi everyone, its Monday - yeah!  It's the start of another lovely week, kids in school, hubby in work and me - well of course - in my craft room :-)

Back at the beginning of August I won some blog candy off Laine from Hugs 4 the Heart Designs .  I had the choice of three clear stamp sets, and I chose one with lots of whimsical birds on.  So I was expecting one stamp set:-)

This is what I received though :-)

So generous of her, look at all those pieces of ribbon and gems and lovely little stamps.  She also include a lovely little vintage tag to say congrats.  Thank you so much Laine.  You have to go check out her blog - she is very talented.

I finally got round to making a quick card on the weekend.

They are such lovely stamps, isn't the owl sweet, and I used the ribbon and gems too:-)

The sentiment stamp is from an InkaDinkaDo set.  The backing paper is from a beautiful stack by DCWV, called The Blossoms and Butterflies - its a 4.5" by 6.5" stack most of them are glittered or foiled.

I have also started to do the insides of my cards - wish I had started doing this sooner as it really finishes them off.

This was just a quick and simple card for today.

This card is being entered in the following challenges.

DL ART Thankful Thursday - Watch the  2 min video to find out what the challenge is (closes 22 Sept)

Happy Birthday Sheila !!

Today its is Sheila's birthday over at She's A Sassy Lady.  A big Happy Birthday hug coming your way.

I hope you are having a fabulous day Sheila and that you are being spoilt rotten:-)

This is the card I made a couple of weeks ago; after all I had to get it in the mail, to make sure that it got there in time for Sheila's birthday.

I used a lovely new textured cardstock stack by DCWV.  Its called The Far East Stack and its awesome.  My husband spotted it whilst we were on a recent road trip to America and I fell in love with it.

The fan was from the Pagoda cartridge, (page 64, fan 1) and cut at 2".  I inked the edges and sprayed it with some home made glimmer mist.

The sentiment is from a CTMH stamp set that came with the Art Philosophy cartridge.

Here is a side view.

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you will stop by Sheila's blog and wish her a Happy Birthday.

Autumn is on its way!

Today - I'm having a great day in the craft room.

I'm half way through a bigger project (you'll have to wait for that one) and I made this card for an Autumnal birthday.

Once again I used the 8" by 3" pre-folded card from my stash. I inked the edges of the card and the layers with Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Tea Dye.

The flowers are from the Flower Shoppe cartridge (scallop 1) and were cut at 2.5" and 2".

The leaves are from the Art Philosophy cart. Leaf 1 (page 62) cut at .75" and leaf 4 (page 56) was cut at 1.5" and 1".  I scored and inked the leaves to make them look a little more real.

The ribbon flower was made by me.  The tag was cut by hand and then rounded with a corner punch.

I am loving this pack of Recollection papers - called Timeless.

This card is being entered in the following challenges.

Back to crafting!

Hi all you lovely blogging friends.  The kids are back in school:-)

I have to admit I am happy.  After 10 weeks of keeping them occupied, I am really glad that school has started.  I had a lovely summer, weather was awesome and we had some fun times but I'm glad to have my space back:-)  Is it just me or do we all feel like that in some way or other?

So this morning I hit the craft room and this is what I came up with.

My card base is cream, pre-folded and measures 8" by 3", from a very old stash of cards and envelopes from the UK.

I used the Art Philosophy cartridge for the butterfly (page 55) cut at 2".  I added some pearls to the body and only glued the centre of the butterfly to add dimension.

Also the layer for the sentiment (page 54) cut at 1.5".

The papers are from the Recollections Timeless pack. I inked the edges to give it a little distressed look.

And a bit of ribbon to finish.  I also did the inside of my card :-)

This card is being entered in the following challenges.
