Spring is out there somewhere!

Hi everyone, I'm over at The Bug Bytes today, for my monthly visit.  I really appreciate Pam letting me go over and share each month.

This month I am sharing a card that I made with wishes of Spring in mind.  I have seen enough of the snow now and the 7ft pile of it at the end of my drive!  Yep I did say 7 feet!!

Here is my card, with a nice bright yellow background to remind me that the sun is out there somewhere. The backing papers are from a Recollections Paper stack called Bold Basics.

My image is a Milk Coffee Digital and is a freebie that can be found here.  Isn't she sweet?

For my embossed layer I ran it through the Cuttlebug with the Swiss Dots folder.  However, I wanted the sentiment to be on an unembossed part, so I left this bit sticking out of the folder.  I then used my Martha Stewart Scoring board to make a couple of scored lines just below the last dots.

The image has been coloured with my Spectrum Noir markers.

I inked all of the layers with a purple ink, and the same ink was used to stamp the sentiment which is from a Hero Arts stamp set.

I added a little button to the side of the sentiment and some ribbon, and a bow down the left hand side. For the inside, I used the same papers as the front and then added the little stamped flower.

This card is being entered in the following challenges.

My Time to Craft Challenge Blog - Challenge #211: Embossing (closes 8 Mar)

Joyful Stamper - Inspire Me Fridays #98: Anything Goes (closes 7 Mar)

  3. This is beautiful. Wish we had a bit of snow here though instead of just the gusty winds. Your card looks do bright and sunny. And the insides look so pretty too.

  4. I about pee'd myself the other day while driving by someone's driveway. A group of kids popped out of the huge mound! I guess those 7' piles make awesome instant forts. :) I'm hoping the sun comes out soon and melts them down so I don't have any more close call scares..LOL!
I love the warmth and hopefulness of Spring in your card Karon and especially that you used purple. How you made the space for your sentiment is perfect. :)

  5. Beautiful card Karon and your bow is so perfect! Stay warm my friend, I can't even imagine 7ft of snow. Yesterday was in the high 70s here but we did get a cold front last night. I think this is our last freeze of the year :D

  6. Love this card Karon! So pretty with the yellow and purple. Adorable image and I love how you embossed the background but left the sentiment area smooth. We are probably having more spring down here in Texas than you are way up in Canada but to us it is still cold but I see green grass, blossoms on some trees and few flowers popping up here and there. Hang in there it has to be Spring there soon!

  15. My dear friend, this is beautiful! I love the sunshiny yellow... I'm more than ready for Spring, too! I LOVE the scoring to separate the embossed and non-embossed area of that base. It finishes it off so perfectly. This little sweetheart is colored wonderfully and I love the super bright purple ribbon. :o) (And your bow is perfection!) Lovely as always, Karon! I hope you're having a sparkly night. :o)

  21. 7 feet of snow Karon!!! (Saying OMGOSH and laughing at the same time) That is crazy! Your card is beatiful and I am always amazed at your colouring.. I found my problem!, I don't have enough of them close enough in colour to create the right shade ...so I have loads of them ordered and they should be here any day!!! I really love the idea of leaving part of the card out of the folder when embossing and using your scoreboard! I have to give that a try for sure, brilliant!! hugs
