Having fun in the sun - NOT! In the basement - YES!

So the weather here at the moment is just too hot for my liking,  40C (104F) and humid!

I decided therefore that the coolest place is in the basement and of course, that is where my craft room is.  What a lucky thing :-)

So I am having a play with my Silhouette Cameo and this is the first ever (yep even though I have had it since Jan) 3D make.

SVG Cuts are having an offer, where you can download this clutch file for free.  If you then make it up and post a photo using their special form you can get a $6.99 voucher to the store.  So I thought I would give it a go.

I used paper from the K&Co 12" by 12" stack called Sweet Nectar.  Added a button from my stash for the front panel.

I think I will have to try and make one with a different paper, as I am not happy that you can see the little cut marks for folding.  All in all though I love the shape!

And here is another, from the same paper stack, but I shrunk it :-)

See here is the difference in size.

The large one is 7" at the widest point by 4.5" deep.  The little one is 4" at the widest point by 2.75" deep.

I wonder if I can make it any smaller :-)

Of course I had to give it a go.

And here is the comparison.

The smallest one is 3" across at the widest point and 2" deep.

These were so easy to make.

Entering the following challenges with these.

2 Creative Chicks - Challenge #4: 3D (closes 31 July)

Thanks for stopping by today.

Happy crafting.

  5. Love those adorable little purses and the patterns/colors you used! So cute! Wow! I can't believe it is that hot way up there in Canada! It's actually hotter up there right now than down here in Texas! We're used to it but I still don't like it when it gets that hot! Hang in there and stay cool!

  8. What a pretty set of gift boxes! I think the biggest is my favorite. I also think the little cut/score marks add character to the finished piece. I think that's my favorite because the paper combination is so pretty- delicate even. Still, one is always looking for tiny boxes to gift items in. I usually resort to a big card envelope and let it stick out. You're teeny, tiny box would work perfectly. Hope you pick out something fabulous at SVG Cuts store!

PS- It is still warm here, but knowing what humidity is like growing up in Minnesota I think you've got the shorter end of the stick there! Hoping your cool basement is a balm to you today (mainly because I can't wait to see what you make next)!!!

  22. These are so pretty! You know my son loves to do origami and 3-D paper crafts so I'm thinking about getting a Silhouette to make cutting easier for him. Do you know if there are a lot of boy files out there?

  23. Karon - I love this and went over to the blog and downloaded as well. Can't wait to play with the file. I too haven't made a 3d project yet with my Silhouette either, and I have had it since January as well. This may just motivate me to play with it. And I do not blame you for hanging out in your basement - not nearly as hot here in Washington, but I love the cool basement. Take Care - Karen
