A quick bargain post !

Hi everyone.  I am currently on a shopping/retail therapy trip with my girls.  We are in Syracuse, NY and yesterday after arriving, we headed out to Joann's and AC Moores.

Now this is not the whole haul, I will show you some more later.  But I had to show you a few of the real bargains I picked up yesterday!

At Joann's, picked up this awesome DCWV stack, for yep as you see, $5!

This one was fab too at just $10.

More to show you from Joanns, later but next up was ACMoore.

These pastel 12" by 12" cardstock packs (I had to buy the last two) were just $2, yes I said $2 each! Score!

And by no means the last (only for now) but this for me was a fab bargain.  Now I have a few of the See D's stamp sets that I bought a long time ago in the UK and I love them.  However, when I saw this in ACMoores I just had to get it.

Do you see what that says - 262 stamps!  And it comes with everything you see in this photo!

Here is the back to show you the stamps - they are wonderful!

And the other half.

And they aren't teeny either.  Here is one of the sets - with the lady on - to give you an idea of the size, the case is the size of a CD case.

Now, you might want to know how much this complete set was.  I remember paying around £5 a set in the UK (so around $8).  There are 8 sets in this box, plus the storage, blocks, stamp pad, ink.  So the 8 sets alone would be $64, plus the other bits say about $80 worth in total.  I got it for $25!!!  Bargain :-)

Anyways, I best get on and have my shower, today we are off to Waterloo Outlets Mall to shop till we drop :-)  And maybe a craft shop on the way back ;-)

Have a great day everyone :-)

Happy crafting/shopping.

Count down to the weekend.

Hi my friendly crafters.  Hope you are all having a fabulous week.  Here at our house we are on countdown to the weekend.  Hmmm - I wonder why?  Well, Andy is coming home and he is going to be home for 10 days - yay!

And what am I doing, taking the girls to the US for 3 days retail therapy :-)  Clothes shopping, craft shopping, craft shopping, clothes shopping.  Did I say craft shopping?

I know, you are probably thinking how terrible I am, but it was Andy's choice and guess what he is going to do?  Paint fences!  He decided he would enjoy the time in the house (instead of an apartment) and would get the fences done, which have been crying out for paint for several years.

Anyways, we still get to spend 7 days together as a family and we are all so glad he is coming home for an extended break until the 5 August.

So, enough of my rambling, here is a Thank you card that I made yesterday evening.  I decided to do a joy fold card, but to turn it on it's side instead.   See the flower, that is a twine flower made by my daughter Shannon.  She was so pleased to see another of her flowers on one of my cards.

I so enjoyed using the Perfect Pearls the other day, that I decided to give it another go, but on white.  I think it turned out OK, but I prefer the darker card stock.  I used the Pewter, Heirloom Gold, Green Patina and Blue Patina.  The sentiment stamp is a Studio 112 and I used Versamark Ink and then added the Perfect Pearls with a small paint brush.

I used papers from a First Edition 6" by 6" stack, called Bird Song.  These papers really are fabulous, some have glitter, some have gloss and some on plain and double sided.

For the inside, I added a small pink panel to write in the card.  All the edges of all the layers have been inked with CTMH Cranberry ink.  My card base is Kraft, and the card measures 4.25" by 5.5".

I realise I have this inside photo round the wrong way, but it was getting late and I wanted to get this post scheduled.  I can't remember the last time I made a joy fold card.  Trying to liven things up a little, instead of doing the same old rectangle :-)

I hope you all have a fabulous rest of the week.

For a Special Lady

Hi everyone.  How are you all doing - hope you are getting some good crafting time in.

Last night I finally got around to making a card for a very special lady, I have been procrastinating long enough.  She is in great need of some love and thoughts as she hits a very tough time in her life.

When I was putting this card together I wanted to think about how much of a star she is and how she is loved by so many.  Hence the papers I have used.

I was lucky enough to receive these lovely papers as part of a challenge win at Diana's blog, DL.ART. Thanks Diana, I am so glad I have finally been able to use them, as I was waiting for the right card and inspiration to come along.

For this card, I used something I have had in my stash, for ages, but never used, Perfect Pearls. Firstly, I stamped the image, a Studio 112 stamp, with my Versamark ink pad.  Then using 3 different colours of the Perfect Pearls, Green Patina, Blue Patina and Heirloom Gold; I used a small paint brush to apply the different colours to the stamped image.  Once I finished all the colours, I wiped off all the excess with a Swiffer duster - it works great to get rid of the pearl dust and all that remains is what is stuck to the image.

For the inside I used the same papers as the front, plus a silver panel stamped with the sentiment, which is from a Hero Arts stamp set.

Here is the card standing open.  I love how the image just pops on the black and can see me using this technique again.   My gatefold card measures 5.5" by 4.25".  I added a ribbon under the front image and around so that it could be tied closed.

I am going to send this off in the mail today to the UK, and hopefully it will be able to bring a smile to one special lady.

Last bit of Christmas - till September (maybe) !

Hi everyone.  So yesterday, in our area, we were under a tornado warning/severe thunderstorm.  The safest place to be is indoors and in the basement.  Now where is my craft room - in the basement of course :-) Guess where we spent most of the day?

I decided to have a go at a Star Fold card.  And here is what I came up with.

I used papers from a Polka Doodles Studio 12 CD - Picknix Collection 2, Gingerbread Twist.  I love how this came together.

The poinsettia and the wreath have been layered and I added some ultra fine glitter, they are just 1.25" in size. These and the sentiment are from the new Angelberry Christmas CD.  I had to cut my little pieces by hand for this card, as my Silhouette Cameo isn't working :-(  Silhouette are sending me a new power cable in the hope that is all it is, we shall see.

The topper is also from the Angelberry Christmas CD.  I inked all the edges of all the layers, and the topper, with Tim Holtz Tea Die Distress ink.

I might have to redo that inner topper - not sure if I like the glitter on that!

Well, I hope you all have a fabulous weekend.

Travel the world with me.

Hi everyone.  How is everyone doing?  Have you all had a fabulous week?

It's challenge time at Polka Doodles, week 29 and the theme is Let it Fly.  So many options for this, could be birds and the bees and the butterflies, or something else that flies, how will you interpret this theme?

I actually thought up a sentiment for my inspiration and used that as my focal point.  Just typed it up using Microsoft Word and then printed it onto my paper.

I used papers and the hot air balloon (pre-coloured image) from the new Bonbon Belles CD.  This is a double CD collection, full of amazing embellishments, digital stamps, papers, sentiments; you name it, it's got it.

The hot air balloons were cut using my Sihouette Cameo print and cut feature.  I popped up two of the balloons to add a little depth.

For the inside, I used the same papers, I placed one of the cut balloons in the left hand corner, for the right corner I used the cut out as a stencil and just inked it lightly.

So, get those thinking hats on.  Can't wait to see what you all create.

This card is being entered in the following challenges.

Christmas again - really!

Hi all my fabulous friends.  I am once again sharing this post with everyone at She's A Sassy Lady and of course all of you out there that come visit me here too.

Today, I am sharing another wonderful image from the new Polka Doodles CD - Angelberry Christmas. This CD is fabulous, so many lovely papers and embellishments and 8 lovely Angelberry digis for you to colour or use the pre-coloured ones as toppers.

Here is my little bit of Christmas to share with you - it's not too early to get started - apparently there are only 161 Days left :-)

This little angel is so adorable and such a pleasure to colour.  Here is a close up of the image.

I used my Spectrum Noir markers to colour here in.

Holly       -  CG2, DG3
Berries    -  CR11
Skin        -  TN2, FS2
Hair        -  CT1, CT3, CT4
Dress      -  CR4, CR5, CR6
Ribbon    -  DR1, DR3, DR5
Box         -  CG2, DG3
Wings      -  LY1, LY3

The papers for this card, were taken from the Studio 12 CD - Picknix Collection 2 - Gingerbread Twist.  I didn't use papers from the new CD, cause Nikky hadn't done them when I made this card LOL.  But I can assure you they are fabulous and will make something with them soon :-)

I cut out the image with my Silhouette Cameo and then popped her up on some pop dots.  Added the sheer red ribbon to finish off the front.  Also inked all the edges of all the layers with Stampin' Up Cranberry Ink.

For the inside I used the same papers as the front.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Happy crafting.

Christmas in July - Yep!

Hi everyone - I hope you all had a fabulous weekend and are raring to go.  Did you know that Christmas is only 162 days away?  Well you do now LOL!

Hot on the heels of the recent release of Polka Doodles new Bonbon Belles Double Cd, is this fabulous new Mini collection called Angelberry Christmas.  Oh my, the digis on this CD are so so adorable. There are 8 fabulous new digi angels, if you don't fancy colouring, there are even pre-coloured images for you to use.  So many wonderful papers, embellishments, sentiments, even borders.

**** Angelberry Christmas

My first image I chose to colour, had to be the angel and the little robin.

Now, I have to admit that the papers are not from the new CD - we were given the digis the other week and I couldn't wait to make it into a card.  So all the papers for this card are from the Studio 12 CD - Picknix Collection 2 - Gingerbread Twist.

My image was coloured with my Spectrum Noir markers.

The markers I used were :-

Face    -  TN2, FS2, PP3
Hair     -  GB1, TN2, TN3
Dress   -  BT2, BT4, BT5
Scarf/Stockings   -  BT5, BT7
Robin   -  TN2, TN3, CR6
Boots   -  TN4, TN5
Wings   -  IG2

She was cut out using my Silhouette Cameo and I placed here on some pop dots to add a little depth.  I stitched around the first two layers with my little sewing machine and inked all the edges of all the layers.  A bit of ribbon to finish off the card.

For the inside, as always, I have used papers from the front of the card.

Well - I have made a start on my Christmas cards.  I actually have another one to share with you tomorrow.

Floral Birthday!

Hi everyone.  Just a quick post today.

I spent some time in the craft room yesterday.  One of my daughters had a friend over for a sleepover, so as they are older now - I really don't have to worry about keeping them entertained :-)

I had bought this little 6"  by 6" pack of paper, by First Edition called Bird Song.  It is such a pretty stack.

I had coloured up this flower from Create with TLC,  called Carnation  Day Freebie - a while back, but just never got around to putting it on a card.  I used my Spectrum Noir markers for this flower.

The image was so easy to colour and I cut it out with a Spellbinders Labels 8 die.

Inked all the edges of all the layers in pink.  The little sentiment stamp was a freebie in a set from a magazine.  I added a little bit of looped ribbon and a bow to finish off the front.

For the inside, I used the same papers as the front.  Slightly different in that I put the thin strip behind the green panel, therefore giving room to leave a message.

I think either my camera is on it's way out, or my eye sight is getting worse.  I can't seem to get a decent clear picture lately!  These look slightly out of focus, and yet I am not doing anything different.

Anyways, I hope you are all having a good week.

Having fun in the sun - NOT! In the basement - YES!

So the weather here at the moment is just too hot for my liking,  40C (104F) and humid!

I decided therefore that the coolest place is in the basement and of course, that is where my craft room is.  What a lucky thing :-)

So I am having a play with my Silhouette Cameo and this is the first ever (yep even though I have had it since Jan) 3D make.

SVG Cuts are having an offer, where you can download this clutch file for free.  If you then make it up and post a photo using their special form you can get a $6.99 voucher to the store.  So I thought I would give it a go.

I used paper from the K&Co 12" by 12" stack called Sweet Nectar.  Added a button from my stash for the front panel.

I think I will have to try and make one with a different paper, as I am not happy that you can see the little cut marks for folding.  All in all though I love the shape!

And here is another, from the same paper stack, but I shrunk it :-)

See here is the difference in size.

The large one is 7" at the widest point by 4.5" deep.  The little one is 4" at the widest point by 2.75" deep.

I wonder if I can make it any smaller :-)

Of course I had to give it a go.

And here is the comparison.

The smallest one is 3" across at the widest point and 2" deep.

These were so easy to make.

Entering the following challenges with these.

Fairy Wings and Butterflies.

Hi everyone. Here we are at the end of another week, but at the beginning of a new challenge week 27 at Polka Doodles.  This weeks challenge is Make your Own Background, so get those thinking heads on and see what you can come up with.

For little bit of shared inspiration, I decided to do an inked background with some added butterflies and I will show you how I did this.  Here is my finished card.

For my background, I got some plain white card stock and three CTMH inks, Cranberry, Pear and Sunny Yellow.

I used my blending tool and added the inks, first red, then green and finally yellow.  Think it looks a little bit like Saurons Eye from Lords of the Rings :-)

Anyways, back on track :-)  I then took a small Recollections Butterfly stamp and stamped over the blended ink, with the CTMH Cranberry.  I also double stamped a few, to get that faded look.  And there you have my background.

Then layered it up and added my image.

The striped paper and the image are from the new Bonbon Belles CD at Polka Doodles.  The sentiment stamp is from a Fairy Flutterfly Stamp set - Gracie.

I coloured this lovely image, Heather, with my Spectrum Noir markers.  She was cut out using my Silhouette Cameo.  The colours I used for my image are below.

Wings     FS3, CR1, CR5, CR8, DR5
Skin        FS2, TN2
Clothes   CR4, CR5, CR6
Hair        TN3, TN2, GB1

For the inside I used the same striped paper and layer card stock, and then added the butterfly stamp to two of the corners.

I hope you will pop along and enter this weeks challenge, get those creative heads on :-)

This card is being entered in the following challenges.
