Oh no - A bit of Life number 2!!

Hi everyone.  Guess what - I'm at it again.  This week, I am going to be busy, busy, busy.

It's Emily's turn to have her room painted, so I thought I would share the room before with you.

Here are some pictures, before I started taking everything down and out.

Picture the lilac curtains that are now in Shannon's made over room :-)  I would not have hung yellow curtains in this room, they were just there for the week before I get started.  They will, however fit really nicely with her new colour choice.  And another before.

Spent yesterday, removing pictures, shelves and sticky wall decorations oh and the curtains.

Also removed every bit of furniture, except the bed base!

You maybe wondering where all that furniture is!!  Well it is in my bedroom - I will not be showing you a picture, it looks like a bomb has hit it!

This will all be taped up and all the white work (baseboards, window frames, closet doors) repainted today. Then tomorrow will start painting the walls.  A lot less work involved in this room, not so much on the walls and no major repairs needed.

So catch up with you round blog land.  I do hope to have a post for you on Wednesday for here and The Bug Bytes, as it's my monthly visit there to share something.

Thanks for stopping by and sharing a bit of life with me.

Happy crafting.

Christmas will soon be here - just reminding you! :-)

Hi everyone.  For those of you who would like to know, there are only 88 days till Christmas.  For those who don't want to know - there are 453 days till Christmas 2014, LOL!

I'm on a roll with Christmas, sorry :-)

It's time for another challenge at Polka Doodles and this week the theme is "More Than One Fold".

I decided to do a diamond fold card - as it reminds me so much of a Christmas cracker, and the DT were asked to used Angelberry Christmas or the new release Home for Christmas.  However, yours doesn't have to be Christmas, just more than one fold :-)  There are lots of tutorials out there for this fold, and there's even one on my blog here :-)

Nikky, has also changed the rules slightly for Polka Doodles challenges.  You no longer need to limit the challenges you enter along side Polka Doodles - you can enter as many other challenges as you wish. Also the winner will be chosen by Random Org and then the DT will choose a Top 3.

I used the new release Home for Christmas for my card.  There is a plethora of amazing papers, digital images, embellishments, sentiments, even decoupage.

*** A Home for Christmas CD Collection

I can't remember the last time I actually did decoupage - it was way before I had my blog for sure!  I so enjoyed making this and that is why I ended up making two.  You know these would make great place cards for a Christmas table or party table.

These cute little eskimos are so adorable and they come in pre-coloured digis (as above) and they also come in black/white digis for you to colour yourself.  There are several decoupage sheets on this CD too and I couldn't resist these.

I added some Sakura Gelly Roll - Clear Stardust on the poinsettia and scarf.  And also some white gel pen on her cheeks. For the one below I also added the Clear Stardust to the dots of her dress.

I inked all the papers with ink and then added the sentiment squares, which are also among the huge amount of sentiments on this fabulous CD.

So come along and enter this weeks challenge - more than one fold !  You have until midday (GMT) 6 October to get you entries in.

This card is being entered in the following challenges.

Five Simple Things - Inspire Me Fridays #122: Anything Goes (closes 3 oct)

Sister Act Card Challenge -  Challenge #26: Always Anything Goes (closes 3 Oct)

Ohhhhhh! We Wish you a Merry Christmas, we wish you a......

Merry Christmas everyone.  Oh hang on a minute, it's only the 25th September - sorry :-)  Happy Fall.

However, I do have a Christmas card for you today.  I so enjoyed making this inside step card thingy!

Anywhos, I used lots of elements from the new Polka Doodles Home for Christmas CD.  The front has a pyramage which comes in a ready to go sheet, all coloured up for you, has been inked around all the edges and raised on foam tape for the depth.

I added a little bit of Sakura Gelly Roll Pen - Clear Stardust, to the church snow and the pom poms on the snowman.

For the inside I wanted to create a sort of scene.

I added a house (pre-coloured), the tree and fence, and little eskimo, were coloured with pencils and Gamsol. All the papers are also from this fabulous CD.

Again, I inked all the edges and then added the gel pen to the snowy areas.

I am entering this card in the following challenges.

Paper Creator's Crafts - Challenge #14: Make it Chrismassy (closes 27 Sept)

LEJ Designs - Challenge #72: Lots of Layers (my pyramage)  (closes 29 Sept)

A Little bit of Reupholstery :-)

Hi everyone.  Just a quick post for you today.

I had to recover Shannon's home made notice board, to go in her newly decorated room.

So this was before.

And this is now.  The lovely teal fabric and reusing the ribbon and buttons.

Now, not wanting to waste any left over material - I had enough to reupholster her folding chair.

And there you have it.  Still need to get pictures and stuff.  Hope to have something crafty to share with you tomorrow :-)

Have a great day.

Thanks for stopping by.

Happy crafting.

I discovered something this week :-)

Hi everyone.  I am sorry I haven't been around on my blog this week.  I have managed to visit most of you though and I see you have been very busy.

Well I have been busy in another way.  I finally finished Shannon's bedroom, well apart from some accent accessories that is.

So, I showed you a before photo, here it is again.

And now we are finished - yay!  (I apologise for the grainy photo's.)

And whose room is it?  Jess seems to have claimed it already, she hasn't been allowed in here for two weeks :-)

Shannon is really pleased with it.  We have to get a nice big picture to go above the bed and some smaller ones for the left wall. I am recovering her notice board with teal fabric and purple ribbon.  We may change out the lilac curtains with teal ones, once we find some.

So what did I discover this week, you may ask.  Well, I discovered that I am absolutely rubbish at painting dark walls.  So Ikea to the rescue, some sheer lilac curtains and decorative thumb tacks and she now has a fabric wall - the wall colour shows through nicely and the curtains hide the crappy paint job :-)  She was thrilled :-)

Next up will be Emily's bedroom, but I am taking a week off decorating, to get some craft stuff done, some DT things that I have been sorely neglecting, and some much needed me time :-)

I thank you all, both old and new followers, so very much for coming to visit my blog and for your continued encouragement and fabulous comments.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Happy crafting.

A repeat performance!

Hi everyone!  It's my turn once again to share something over at Sheila's blog, She's a Sassy Lady. Where are the months going!

I took a day off decorating yesterday, to catch up on some DT stuff and get ahead before I start to actually paint the walls in Shannon's room.

I made a card like this last week (for a boy) and so enjoyed doing the folded frame, that I had to make another one and thought I would share how you make the frame.

So here is the card I made.  My card base is 5" square.

To make the frame you will need a piece of double-sided card stock, that is 4.75" square.  I used my Martha Stewart score board, to make the following score lines. (I have used white paper to show the lines better.)  You will see that I have my square, with the tip, positioned at 3 3/8", I also draw a line down the score line with a pencil as this helps get it positioned correctly.

Score at 1.25" and 1.75" and then rotate the square 90 degrees, and score again at 1.25" and 1.75". Doing this until you have scored all four sides.

For the folding of the frame, start by folding at the 1.75" score line and fold into the centre of your square.

Next, fold the 1.25" back to the outer edge.

Do this on all four sides.

If you want to fit your image inside the frame - don't forget to do this before you start securing the frame sides :-)

To secure the frame sides; firstly add some foam tape to the inner edge like this and secure.

And then the top outside edge like this.

Do this on all four sides.  I find if you do two opposite sides together - it will fold nicer and you get a neater frame.

And there you have it, a nice solid frame.

My little image is a stamp by Studio 112, stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black, from Michaels and I coloured it with pencils.  I inked round the edges of the frame and base layer with CTMH Sunset ink.

My papers are from First Edition card stacks "Bird Song" and "Spring Feast".  The little tag is also cut, from this stack.  The tiny sentiment is from a Small Stamps set, by Hot of the Press, "Just a Note".  I added a little ribbon and a bow to finish off the front.

For the inside of my card, I used the same base layer as the front and as it has a lovely space for writing your own message, I didn't feel I needed to add anything else.

Hope you have enjoyed this tutorial and that you will give it a go.

Back to the decorating for me - hopefully all the painting of Shannon's room will be finished by the end of the week.  Then it will be Emily's turn :-)

This card is being entered in the following challenges.

It's OK, there are still 100 days to Christmas :-)

Hi everyone.  Hope you are all having a good weekend.

I am progressing well with the redecoration of Shannon's bedroom.  All the white work is now done and I am hoping to prime the walls on Monday and then hopefully by the end of the week, it will all be painted. Then all that will be left to do is make it her room once again, by adding all the little bits and pieces :-)

Anyways, I thought it was really good of me to remind you all that there are only 100 days until Christmas LOL! When I realised this, I thought wow, is that all!

Nikky has a fabulous new release at Polka Doodles, called Home for Christmas.  It is full to the brim with amazing digital images, both black/white and coloured.  A smorgasbord of coloured embellishments,  papers, shaper cards and even decoupage sheets.

*** A Home for Christmas CD Collection

I used this fabulous house image and made a shaped card with it, using my Silhouette Cameo.

I just love this house and there are several in this new collection, along with scenes and ready to go cards. The sentiment is also from the CD, there are so many to choose from, so I added one that would fit perfectly.

I added Sakura Gelly Roll - Clear Stardust to the snowy areas of the houses and the hearts on the tree. The tree is coloured with my Spectrum Noir markers and popped up to add more dimension to the card.

The Spectrum Noir markers I used were;

Branches     CG2, DG3, JG6
Trunk          TN5, TN7
Hearts         CR11

For the inside of the card, I cut another of the same image and then in the Silhouette Design studio, was able to white out the house in front and add another sentiment, before cutting, and still leaving room to write your own message.

I am hoping to have some more fabulous examples for you over the coming weeks, this CD collection is £17.99 (approximately $30), with free shipping worldwide and with over 500 elements included in the collection, so worth every penny.

Enjoy you Sunday and thanks for stopping by everyone.

Happy crafting.

For those pesky Boys!

Hi all my fab friends.  How are you all out there in blogland today?  Hope you have all had a fabulous week.

I have been doing Shannon's bedroom this week, and have now filled all the holes and repaired the walls where the shelves had been.  Sanded them down and will now be making a start on the white work (base boards, window frames and doors)  I hate this part :-)  I will possibly be able to start the walls themselves next week, will have to prime the upper half first and then start painting.  So it's coming along.

Anyways, here we are, the beginning of another challenge at Polka Doodles and this week we are focusing on the men or boys in our lives.  You know the ones we all have trouble with, when it comes to making them something. So the theme is One For the Boys.

Here is my little bit of inspiration for you this week.

I like the clean lines of this one - nothing frilly but I did add that little bit of Twinery Twine, the colour is Shore, which I won as blog candy back in June from Great Impression Stamps - thank you :-)

My image is from the Polka Doodles Candy Doodles CD and I coloured him up with pencils and Gamsol. Just fancied a change of medium :-)  I did edge him with Spectrum Noir BT1.

Both my papers and sentiment were from the Polka Doodles Sugar Birdies CD.  I printed one sheet double-sided in order to do the faux frame in the middle. My card is 5.5" square, I inked all the edges of all the layers.  The image and sentiment are up on pop dots for added dimension.

For the inside I have used the same papers as the front, inking the edges, adding a white centre for writing on and adding those little stars to finish off.

Remember when taking part in Polka Doodles challenges, you are only allowed to enter a maximum of 10 challenges, including Polka Doodles, in order to be eligible for any prizes.

Also, don't forget, that Polka Doodles have free Worldwide shipping on all purchases over £10 (approx $16).

Nikky also has a most fabulous new release called Home for Christmas.

*** A Home for Christmas CD Collection

Full of fabulous Christmas goodies - over 500 printable elements; papers, digital images both coloured and black/white, sentiments, envelopes, inserts, embellishments, topper, frames/borders and new to this CD are some wonderful decoupage sheets.  It truly is gorgeous!

Bit of Life :-)

Hi everyone.  Just so you know that I am not just sitting around doing nothing :-)

I thought I would share what I have been up to this morning.

I promised my daughters that this fall I would get their bedrooms decorated.  I figured if I gave myself 3 hours each day to do a job then I would soon get it done.

Also means I can still get in the craft room afterwards to relax :-)

Today, was demolition day in Shannon's room.

Here is her bedroom at 7.00am this morning.

And here is Shannon's bedroom (after doing the school runs) by 10.30am.

So I have taken all the shelving and all the dado rails down.  It already looks much bigger with those shelves gone!

And I only injured myself once!  Sliced my finger with a sharp object :-)

Now I have to start the repair jobs; filling holes and repairing the walls and sanding before I can paint.

I am going to do the white work before the walls :-)

So there you have it, just sharing stage 1.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Happy crafting.
