Howdy Cowboy!

Howdy partner's.  Hope you have had a great week.   I still have that other box card to finish., will hopefully get it finished on the weekend.  Well, at least put it together, as all the pieces are ready to go.

It's the start of a new challenge at Polkadoodles this week and our theme is Men on our Minds; so anything for a male.  Could be for Father's Day, a birthday, anything male related.

I decided to use one of the new collections, the Work and Play 3 CD collection.  Such fabulous images, papers and sentiments.

I used the pre-coloured saloon to make a shaped card.  I have layered up the saloon image and then cut out the swing doors.  Have then added another ticket sentiment behind the doors.  By doing this I feel it has added some depth to the card.

I inked all the edges of all the layers with Tim Holtz Tea Dye distress ink.  The cowboy is coloured with Copic markers and are listed below.

Copic Markers

Hat/Scarf - E11, E15, B21, B24
Hair - E29
Skin - E000, E00, E11
Shirt - YR00, YR12
Jacket/Trousers - E25, E27
Jeans - B34, B37
Boots - YR12, YR18
Guitar - E11, E15

I have used brown card stock for the base of my card.  And used my Silhouette Cameo to design and cut the shaped card.

For the inside, I added a white piece for writing a note.  The corners have been trimmed with a corner rounder and then distress ink added.  Also the little horse stamp was perfect, and comes from a CTMH stamp set called  Adventure Canada.

And there you have it, a wonderful little western card.  I love the cute cowboy.

I have used this collection for my project today.

A "little" tutorial and some new storage :-)

Hi everyone.  How is your week going?  I have to go look after a friends little ones today.  My friend is currently going through treatments for breast cancer, so I help out with the kiddies when she needs me. She has finished chemo and now is starting radiation, so has to go for some tests and preparations, today.

A picture heavy post, so if you want to grab a coffee, now would be a good time :-)

I thought I would share a quick tutorial with you today.  I made a box card last week (see the post below), smaller than the normal box cards that you see around, that are made with 12" by 12" card stock.

I used a piece of 8.5" by 11" card stock for mine and thought I would share the measurements.  Will also be a permanent record for me to refer to :-)

Start off by cutting 1" off the card stock, so that you are left with a piece that is 7.5" by 11".  Keep the 1" strip to use later.

Step 1, you need to score along the long edge at 1/2", 3 1/8", 5 3/4", 8 3/8".  I have penned in the score lines just to show you.

Step 2, score on the short edge at 4 1/2".

Step 3, make a tab on the 1/2" score line, and then cut down the other three score lines to the 4 1/2" score line.  I have placed a ruler in between to show what I mean :-)

Step 4, fold all the vertical score lines.  But only fold three of the horizontal score lines, as shown.

Step 5, put some tape on the small tab and line it up with the opposite edge to form your box.

And finally, using the 1" strip that you kept from earlier.  You did keep it, didn't you?! :-)

Cut two pieces that are 3 5/8" each.  And then score at 1/2" in from both sides.

Finally, add some tape to both 1/2" sides and insert them into the box at the top.  These will be your anchors for your decorations etc.

I will show you the finished box and the panels, hopefully tomorrow.  Not sure how long I am kiddie minding today :-)

You know, I am also wondering if I could go even smaller - I think these box cards would make fabulous table place cards - what do you think.  I will share the measurements, another time ;-)

I also wanted to share with you some new storage I was able to lay my hands on.  A friend was getting rid of this fabulous storage unit and I just had to have it :-)

Meet my new colouring station :-)

I am so pleased with this unit.  The bottom of it actually swings out to the right, to more storage and makes it into a desk.

Oh and I wanted to share a recent purchase with you!  I am investing in Copic markers.  I can only get so many every now and again and am buying both Ciao and Sketch to stretch the budget a bit.  I have a grand total of 41 at the moment, LOL!  I made the storage, that you see all over the internet at the moment, it's perfect.  I have also put my Stampin' Up and CTMH markers in there for now.

I now have all my pens, pencils and inks in one place.

It has a light above the desk area - Andy said he will replace this with LED lights and also add some lighting in the top area of the unit too - where I have my inks.

The CD racks on the left - holds my newly organised dies and the one on the right is full of See D's stamps. Also have some CTMH stamps in the box on the right too.

So, if your still with me, I hope you have a fabulous rest of the week.  Hopefully be back tomorrow with another box card finished.  Did you spy the colouring? :-)

Thanks for stopping by today.

Happy crafting.

A bit of Watercolouring - sort of :-)

Hi everyone.  Hope you have all had a wonderful week.

It's inspiration week this week, at Polkadoodles, for our Things with Wings challenge.  Why not pop over and take a look at the fabulous DT creations and go along and enter.  Also don't forget that Polkadoodles turned 5 in May, and there is still time to enter to win a fabulous Birthday blog clandy too.

I decided to make a box card this week.  I have made it from an 8.5" by 11" piece of card stock.  So I had to work out the measurements for this smaller box as I could only find a tutorial for the 12" by 12" piece of card stock.  If you think you would be interested in the measurements let me know and I will do a little tutorial.

I thought I would use an actual stamp this time around and Fairy Flutterfly Gracie was the perfect choice. She is wonderful little set of 5 rubber stamps.  The large butterfly behind Gracie is also from this set, and this has been attached with a little bit of acetate to give it the height.  Gracie has been coloured up on watercolour card stock, with CTMH markers and Stampin' Up Markers.   Using the blender pen from Stampin' Up, to give it that lovely watercolour look.  She was die cut using the free set that came with my Genius Platform.

I used
Holiday Red

Stampin' Up
Blushin Bride
Calypso Coral
Pool Party
Bermuda Bay
Blender Pen

The papers are from the Fredericka Mini Collection CD, and also the other colourful butterflies are from the Dollie Daydream Goes East Collection.

I love the pastel shades and the papers went perfect with the colours of the image.

Some little butterflies and flowers, and a sentiment to finish it off.  And for the back I added a small panel to leave a little note, using the little flower stamp from the Gracie set.

The items I used were:

Fairy Flutterfly - Gracie                                              Fredericka Mini CD Collection
fairy flutterfly Rubber Stamp Set - Gracie                       Fredericka - Mini CD collection

Dollie Daydream Goes East CD collection

So, let me know if you would like me to do a tutorial for this size.  I might do it anyways, just for a permanent record for me :-)

A little Thank You

Hi everyone. It is that time of the month for me to share something with everyone over at She's a Sassy Lady.   Thanks so much Sheila and big hugs coming your way.

I have had Andy home for the last week - yay.  It has been so wonderful to have him home for such a long time.  However, unfortunately he has to go back tomorrow :-(

Andy`s brother, Peter, came out to visit us and was able to celebrate Andy`s 50th birthday.  He has had a great time and Peter went back to the UK today.  Andy loved the card by the way, hee hee hee.

I had the occasion to make a little thank you card the other day and I decided to use the Mojo Monday sketch this week.  I am not one to use sketches very often as I tend to take them too literally.  Even on this one I had to add that little envelope and sentiment.  I was sorely tempted to also add a flower or butterfly in the dead space above the sentiment :-), but I didn't, I refrained LOL!

I love this wonderful image from Mo's Digital Pencil, it comes from a lovely set of three baby fairies.  I have coloured her in pencils for a change.  The die cut for the image and the inside of the card is from a free set that came with my Genius Platform.

I added some lovely American Crafts Mini Glitter Brads - Blush, to the ribbon and the flags (or tags, or strips of paper with inverted points cut into them - whatever you may call them LOL!).

The main layer and the image layer have been popped up on to foam tape, not only to add dimension to the card, but also so I wouldn't have unsightly bumps in the paper from the brads :-)

I couldn't resist adding that little envelope QuicKutz die and then the little ticket sentiment.

For the inside complimentary papers and a white space for adding a note.  The little flower stamp is from a CTMH stamp set called A Garden Occasions, which I have shadow stamped a second time.

And there you have a very purple card, but hey I like purple :-)

This card is being entered in the following challenges.

Happy 50th Birthday!

Hi everyone.  How are you all?  I must apologise for the lack of posts this month!  For some reason, when Andy went back to Winnipeg this time, I found it extremely hard to even think about crafting, let alone do any.

Andy turns 50 today (yes, Andy - not me, you cheeky lot, LOL), so of course I had to make him a card - in some respects this helped me get back in the craft room :-)  You will be happy to know that Andy came home last night and is home here with us for a week!  Yes a whole week - whoop whoop.  Also, Andy's brother is coming out to visit for the week so it will be a great time for the whole family.

I have been wanting to use this Bugaboo image ever since I got it.  Isn't Gus just so perfect for this monumental birthday.  And I love this sentiment, don't you?!

My base layer is a textured paper from old stock, as are the patterned papers.  Doesn't it feel good when you can use up stuff you have had for years (and I mean years).  I used three little blue brads to finish off that right corner.

I used a mix of Copic markers and Spectrum Noir markers to colour Gus.

Spectrum Noir
Hair - BG2
Cloak - BG5, BG6
Blade - GG1
Gravestone - IG1, IG2

Glasses and outline - C1
Skin - E000. E00, E11
Grass - YG03, G07
Staff - E15
Flowers - Y15, Y17
Balloons - B21

All the layers were inked around the edges with Stampin Up Marina Mist.  Popped up the sentiment on some foam dots, just to add a little depth to the card.

For the inside, complimentary layers and an added balloon, which I masked and then stamped a second time.

I thank you all for continuing to come visit my blog - even though I have had a quiet spell.  Hope you are all well and I, at least, have been trying to keep up with my visiting, so I know what you have all been up to :-)

I am entering this card in the following challenges.

Something Old, Something New.

Nope, no one is getting married LOL!  It's Friday and we are starting a new challenge of at Polkadoodles this week.  The theme is Something Old, Something New, and you have to do what the theme says, use something old from your stash and something new.

It is also Polkadoodles 5th Anniversary and this May there will be lots of fun on the blog.  Today there is a blog hop for the month of May - with a fabulous give away.  Go check it out over at the Polkadoodles blog.

As a design team member we were asked to use an old collection and a new collection.

I decided to use a lovely image from the Love and Cherish collection and then the papers were from the new Work and Play collection 2.

I used a mixture of different pens for this image.

Hair - Copic E15, E18
Skin - Copic E000, E00, E93(for blush)
Dress - Spectrum Noir CR4, CR5, CR6
Umbrella - Spectrum Noir PP3, PP4
Hearts - CTMH Holiday Red

I love these papers and I inked all the edges of all the layers with CTMH Cotton Candy.

The little envelope is a QuicKutz Die, envelope and heart.

I raised up the image on some foam tape, just to give the card some depth.

Added a little bit of ribbon to finish off the front.  Then for the inside I used papers from the front and then stamped the centre panel with the lovely little rose.

So the collections I used for this were.

Work and Play Collection 2                                              Love and Cherish Collection
    ** Work & Play Collection 2             Love & Cherish CD-Rom

So, if you were paying attention, you might have noticed that I used some Copic markers to colour my image.  I have decided to come over to the Light side :-)  It is going to take a while to get a good collection, but my first order of 22 pens arrived.  I am going to order a few each month when I can.  I love the ones I have so far.

Anyways, get into your craft room and use something old and something new and go along and enter in this weeks challenge at Polkadoodles.

This card is being entered in the following challenges.
