After a slight detour (10mins thank goodness) where the GPS had a mind of it's own, we finally got back on the right road LOL!
Grab a coffee and sit a while, or maybe a bit longer :-)
We passed these two peaks in the distant, as we were on the road out of Driggs, Idaho. These are The Good Sirs, two of the tallest in peaks in The Southern Rocky Mountains.
These are the Gibbons Falls, one of the first stops (for us) in Yellowstone.
See that snow on those hills, we will be up close and personal later!
One lonesome buffalo (bison).
This is The Golden Gate, we get to see another one later on our trip ;-)
Into Mammoth Hot Springs, and it was really hot! This photo is taken by Emily.
Andy took some a fab one too :-)
Ah Ha! Three faces for you today. Andy saw this one - wow! Hope you can spot them too, then I know I don't have a totally weird family LOL!
Emily and Shannon saw this one, off the same stone as above!
And whilst we were driving, Emily said "I see a face and I caught it for you Mom!"
And one lonesome elk, although the herd was just down the road, I didn't get a good photo sorry :-(
Tower Fall Rapids, and Tower Falls below. One of the walk ways was closed to repairs, with blocking signs across the entrance. But we still saw several people take the walk way and totally ignoring the signs - where's a Park Ranger when you need one!
Snow line getting closer.
And there it is - yep snow! Feeling homesick NOT!
And pretty wild flowers still grow :-)
Lonesome buffalo - I'm just minding my own business, right next door to the Mud Volcano :-)
Phew! This place stunk!
Dragon's breath, coming from the Dragon's Mouth Cave! You could actually hear the steam being generated under-ground.
We arrived at Old Faithful at 7.05pm and we waited until 7.26pm and therefore timed it really well. Old Faithful goes off every 90mins so we didn't have to wait long :-)
Just getting warmed up.
And there she blows! Again, you could feel and hear all the rumbling under ground :-)
One of the last stops in Yellowstone was at the Grand Prismatic Springs and Andy got lots of great photos. Here is just a few.
And as the sun is going down.
And the perfect ending to the most wonderful day. Watching the sunset before leaving Yellowstone.
So there you have it. Day 6 completed and another late night, hence the late posting this morning :-) Off to brekkie now and to the next destination. Golden Spike National Historic site, where the Atlantic Railway meets the Pacific Railway.
Tally of miles 370 yesterday. Total now stands at 1952 miles end of day 6!
Have a great week everyone.
Thanks for stopping by.
