Life getting in the way :-)

Hi everyone.

Just popping in to say hello.  Not much crafting being done at the moment - in fact none at all :-(

We are having new carpets installed next Monday, so I have been busy pulling up the old carpet.  I have done two sets of stairs, and boy there were tons of staples to be removed.

I have also managed to remove all the carpet in the master bedroom, so only the landing and two more bedrooms to do.

All the beds have been taken apart and my dining room/living room looks like a storage room.

I wanted to share something else with you too.

My eldest daughter Shannon, who is currently in Grade 11, has wanted to be a vet since she was 8 years old.  It's what she plans to do, well to be a veterinary technician.

As part of this semester she is completing her Co-op (work experience) and she was lucky enough to get it at a local small animal clinic.  She is loving it!  Only week two, and she has seen several operations and loads of other interesting things.  I am so pleased for her as it is really her dream.

I am having a bit of a ramble aren't I.  Just wanted to let you know that things are good, just a bit hectic.  Hopefully by the middle of next week, things will return to normal - well as normal as they can be :-)

Andy is still in Winnipeg, no end in sight yet!

I hope you are all well and I will try and keep up with visiting you all.

Have a great rest of the week.

Back soon.

Happy crafting.

Winston's Delight!

Hi everyone.  How has your week gone?  Mine has been really good.  We are getting ready to have new carpet installed here, so I have been busy taking up the old stuff!  Add carpet removal to my Mom resume :-)

Our Spanish student, Paula, returned home last Sunday, it was lovely having her and Shannon is now looking forward to her trip in April of next year.

Oh and Andy comes home tonight for the weekend :-)

Anyways, lets get on with this post.  We have a new challenge starting, for this fortnight, over at Polka Doodles.  Our theme this week is use this sketch!

Now, I am not that good with sketches, but I have to admit I really enjoyed using this one.  I have used the fabulous new Winston Deluxe Papercrafting CD for my creation.

I used the pre-coloured image of Winston and Etty celebrating, using these to replace the hearts in the sketch.  Don't they look dapper in their posh togs :-)

All the papers and embellishments are from this fabulous CD.  I distressed all the edges of all the layers and inked them with Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress Ink.

My card base was a 6" by 6" from my stash, it has been in there for ages.  I inked the edges of the base too.  For the inside, I used the same papers and then added the champagne glasses and hearts (also from the CD), which were cut using my Cameo.  In fact, I designed the whole card in Design Studio, and then filled each of the layers with the papers from the CD :-)

The Happy Anniversary sentiment is from the wonderful Cherryblossom Lane CD.  I added the characters, sentiment and hearts, using some foam squares to add some dimension to the card.

So, why not give the sketch a go, I think it is a great one.  Then all you have to do is go over to Polka Doodles and enter the challenge.  You have until Noon GMT, Friday 3 October to enter - so plenty of time to get creating.

Here is the new collection I used, Winston Deluxe Papercrafting CD.

Using up those Scraps #4

Hi everyone.  It's my turn to share something over at She's a Sassy Lady this month.  And of course I have to share it here with all my fabulous followers :-)  Thanks for supporting my little old blog, my friends.

I have another card, made from scraps to share with you this month.  I am working my way through my colour scraps, and I am on purples now :-)

First off I dug out some scraps from my stash.

As I was going to die cut some flowers, using the Heartfelt Creations Delicate Asters, I used the negative as a stencil and inked up one of the papers with flowers.

Then it was just a case of putting the card together. I am using up those 8" by 3" cards I have.  After deciding on a layout, I inked all the edges of all the layers before adding them to the card base.

I love these delicate Asters and I will be forever grateful of Andie of Contagiously Crafty, for her generosity.

For the inside, I used the same papers as the front, then added a small panel to leave a message, using the stencil again to add one inked flower.

To finish off the front I added a couple of ticket sentiments, that are from a Polka Doodles CD.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Happy crafting.

More Winston, well Etty :-)

Hi everyone.  It's Friday!  I hope you have all had a fabulous week.  I am so happy to be finally getting back into my craft room and getting that creative buzz once again.

It's inspiration week over at Polka Doodles, for our second week in the Challenge - Tag Your It.  You can make a tag, or something with a tag on it.  But as DT we made tags to inspire.

As you know, from my earlier posts this week, there is another fabulous new Polka Doodles collection and available to purchase now!

This is the new Winston Deluxe Papercrafting CD and it really is amazing.

*****PRE-ORDER Winston Deluxe Papercrafting CD Collection

All items on this tag and the tag itself are from this fabulous new collection.  I used one of the design sheets, that Nikky has created for those times when you need everything together to make a card.

The little bear on this tag is called Etty and she is Winston's best friend/wife/fiance/girl friend, what ever you wish her to be :-)

She is a pre-coloured image and decoupaged, Nikky has these already for you to print and cut out. I distressed some of the edges and added Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress ink to them.

I added a little button to the flower, and couldn't resist making one of the paper bows that can also be found on this wonderful CD.

Just some ribbons to finish of the tag (which has a cork design on it).  You just have to go check out this fabulous new collection.

Also, don't forget to go along and enter the challenge, Tag Your It.  You have until 12 noon GMT, Friday 19 Sept to enter - so plenty of time to get creating.

I am entering this tag in the following challenge.

Floral Tea.

Hi everyone.  Thursday already, I really don't know where the weeks are going.  The girls have already been back in school nearly 2 weeks.  Hey it will soon be Christmas LOL! :-)

I have another make for you today from the new Winston Deluxe Papercrafting CD at Polka Doodles.

*****PRE-ORDER Winston Deluxe Papercrafting CD Collection

The other day when I was in the craft room, I did a lot of designing and cutting out with my Silhouette Cameo and this was one of the end products.

I used the teacup pre-coloured digital image from the CD and designed an easel card for it.

Everything of this creation is from the fabulous CD.  I love the amazing papers, flowers and so many elements, it really is wonderful.  There are Kraft patterned papers, coloured patterned papers, ephemera, embellishments, inserts, envelopes, just beyond wonderful.

I must apologise for the quality of the photo's, I have a new camera and I need to play around with the settings a little I think :-)

Here is a close up of the flowers.

I added depth to the flowers in the cup by adding some layers on foam and a couple of butterflies in there too.

I love being able to make easel cards the shape of the image I am using.

I am entering this card in the following challenge.

Finally something to share !

Hi everyone, long time no see :-)  I would like to start off by thanking you all for your fabulous friendships and support over the past weeks.

We currently have a Spanish exchange student staying with us, her name is Paula.  She is Shannon's partner in the exchange and therefore in April of next year, that is who Shannon will stay with when she goes on her exchange trip to Spain.

Paula, has been with us since last Wednesday night and is with us until this Sunday afternoon.

Yesterday, after dropping them off at school, I finally decided that it was time to get back to crafting.  Having Paula here has helped take my mind away from the happenings of the past few weeks - so it has been a good thing.

I spent the morning doing a lot of cutting with my Silhouette Cameo and using the fabulous new collection available now at Polka Doodles.

This is the new Winston Deluxe Papercrafting CD Colleciton.

*****PRE-ORDER Winston Deluxe Papercrafting CD Collection

I have used Winston's friend, who is called Etty, to make this 8" by 10" wall plaque for a girly bedroom.

The lettering is actually from the Studio 12 Picknix Collection 1 CD.  I placed them up on some foam to add dimension.

Etty is a pre-coloured digi and I have layered her up on a tag.  Also the backing paper, which I adore, is from the fabulous new Winston CD too.  I have wrapped it around an 8" by 10" flat artist board and inked all the edges with CTMH Cotton Candy.

I punched two holes in the top corners, with my Cropadile and then added some ribbons to hang it with. The little paper bows are also from this wonderful new collection, love how they turned out.

Of course, I couldn't resist using the butterflies too - layering them up and curling them a little to make them stand out a bit more.

This turned out so sweet and I really enjoyed getting back to it.

I hope that you are all well and having great week.

I am entering this plaque in the following challenges.
