WOYWW #286 - Folding Folding Folding!

Hi everyone.  How is your week going?

I had Shannon of school poorly on Monday, but she is fine now.  However, whilst she was home it meant I had to do the dreaded house work - after all that is what Mommies do whilst they are in school, isn't it ?!! :-)

Guess where I would have been if she hadn't been home?  The craft room of course LOL!

Taking part in What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday? #286.

So, on my desk this week, a folded tree, which I am making into a gift for a friend.  You can see my first one that I made HERE.  Also trying another twist on the folded tree, will show you that once it is done, I am in the middle of folding that one.

Just behind the books are some cake bases, which I am thinking of using as bases for the gifts.

Top right, my advent calender is all finished from those boxes that you saw last week.  Scroll down to see more or click HERE  for the post.

There's some ribbon and garland, some snow flakes and a couple of little statues to use for the gifts I am making.  My mists are on the left there ready to go and will hopefully get these done over the next few days.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Happy crafting.

  2. I saw a tree like yours made into an angel. some of the pages were folded to make wings and a ball was stuck on top for a head. It looked really good. #3

  3. I hate when I have to pretend 'play house.' Love that you kept with the whole domesticated theme while your kiddo was ill. ;) Glad to hear she's feeling better now and your desk, as always, has wonderful goodies in the making. I am excited to see the new twist on the tree.
    Have a great one!!

  15. I hope your daughter feels better soon! I guess your lovely projects will need to be put on hold while maternal duties take over! I'll need to get used to the idea of caring for a dependent very soon!

  17. Hi Karon - hope your daughter is better now. Your finished tree is beautiful, and I look forward to seeing the other one, too. They are great fun to make - I did a couple last year, and will be doing a little workshop for a few friends on Monday, showing these and other book page ornaments. Your box base was a great addition, and I might pinch that idea, if that's ok with you. Have a great week, Chris # 8

  24. Love the piled up Advent calendar. DD was just asking about an advent calendar for this year. I've made so many of them but are they good enough? Nope - she wants to make one with me. Sigh.
Maybe I'll steer her this way...
Late again - darn that Blogger!

  25. Sneaky mumm! Rumours that I run downstairs to tidy the kitchen and spray polish in the air just before hubby comes home are much over-exaggerated and of course totally untrue!! (I go down at least an hour before). Lpve love love all this paper folding I keep seeing, must try that in the New Year - and those piled up advent boxes are adorable!! Sorry I'm late returning your your visit, Cindy #49

  26. LOL I hear you with the unexpected child home. I have the last one on the verge of launching {almost 18} I tend to tiptoe around until she rolls out of bed, It really cuts into my creative time a well, because her room is right next to my space, LOL. Your trees are perfect!! Keep smiling and creating

  27. Hi Karon,

I went over to see the finished tree and it's gorgeous! I go to the local library and they have a "free" section of books that don't sell at the little bookstore (I donate books there). You've given me an idea for some of the books I've seen there. I have a great collection of different languages too.

Thank you for visiting me already! Happy belated WOYWW
    Hugs,

  30. Looking forward to seeing your second finished book tree :)
I was telling a couple o friends that I recycled some old magazines and they told me, I should keep them to make a folded tree or for my art journaling…the magazines were from 2008…I don't think I needed to be enabled, lol.

  32. Ah that's me Karon! In the time it took the dishwasher repar man to do his thing yesterday, I sorted and cleaned the spare room so that I can use it for wrapping and gift stacking....something I have been putting off for months because I've never had to 'look busy'! Glad your DD is better now though. Still loving the trees, I think the cake bases are another genius idea. Your advent calendar is deeeeeevine!

I'm way late with my woyww-visits (due to the 'open atelier' deadline and all...) but at least I made it here before the next Wednesday ;) Your advent 'statue' (calender does not seem to say it...) is awesome!!!
