Lemonade anyone :-)

Hi everyone.  Happy Friday.  Just to let you know that Emily is much better and that it was just a 24 hour bug - thank goodness :-)

We have an inspirational post for you this week over at Polkadoodles, as we have now gone over to fortnightly challenges to give you longer to enter.  Our theme for the current challenge, week 8, is Sugar and Spice.  So this could mean so many different things and we are loving what you are all coming up with.

Also the prize for this fortnights challenge - would you believe it £50 (approx $80!) of goodies from Polkadoodles; so come on, what excuse do you have go along and enter!

Also, Nikky has another new collection up for pre-order, so new I haven`t had chance to play with it.  It`s fabulous though!!  Just click on the picture :-)

** Work & Play Collection 1

For my little bit of inspiration this week, I went with the Sugar and Spice as maybe meaning something sweet!

I used the lemonade stand from the In the Garden section of the Studio 12 Picknix Collection 1CD. Using the Silhouette Design Studio as I was able to size the pre-coloured digi and make a shaped card.

I made two layers of the stand, placing the boy in between the two, the top layer is up on pop dots to add depth.  The boy and girl pre-coloured images, and the sentiment, are from the Sundae of Seasons CD, these were also cut with my Silhouette Cameo.

For the inside, I cut another stand but just the outline in white - stamped and then enough room to write a note too.

I am loving that I can find so many digis on these CD's that are all great for making those different shaped cards!

I haven't been in the mood for colouring lately, so these CD's are fabulous as the pre-coloured digis are there for you to use too!  Here are the two collections I used.

I hope you will go along and take part in this fortnights challenge Sugar and Spice.  You have until the 7th March to enter, and please remember as our winner is now chosen by random org, only two entries each.

Rules are to be broken! Aren't they?

Hi every one.  How is your week going?

I had Emily home again yesterday, she now has stomach flu - oh joy!  Bless, she was up most of Tuesday night either being sick or sitting on the loo :-(  It has totally wiped her out but I think it is just a 24 hr bug, well I hope so anyway.

I have for you today, the next four cards in the One Sheet Wonder Set of 16 cards.  Well, I have now added another designer paper, just to replace the white.  I tell you, I would definitely be no good at CAS cards, I hate the white space.

I used the embossing folder Floral Fantasy for the blue background on the next two cards.

Once again all the edges were inked with CTMH Sorbet and the same for the stamps.

As you can see - the theme of the stamps this time is flowers, so I couldn't resist adding a little flower and pearl dot to each card.  And it also fills in some of that white space, I so hate :-)

For the next two cards, I introduced another designer paper from the Recollections Cherry Blossom stack.

A nice mix of sentiments too, for lots of different occasions.

And of course, I decorated the insides too.

And there you have it. Another 4 done, only 9 more to go :-)  I think the idea behind this One Sheet Wonder, is that you can make them all really quickly, but because I have added extra layers etc it is taking a little bit longer.

Welcome to my new followers - please stay a while and comment.  I have been over and followed those that I can find - if I haven't then please leave me a comment as I would love to return the favour :-)

Thanks for stopping by today.

Happy crafting.

One Sheet Wonder - well sort of :-)

Hi everyone.

I was having a wander round the web the other day and came across this fabulous idea of making 16 cards with one sheet of designer paper.  Here is the link to Ink it Up with Jessica Taylor.

Also, whilst watching the Olympics on the weekend, I sorted out most of my stamps.  Putting them onto storage sheets and into folders.  Doing this enabled me to see stamps I had totally forgotten about.  I think I might un-mount my wooden stamps and put them on foam, then I will be able to put those in a folder too.

However, lets get back to these cards!  Me being me, I don't always follow rules very well and as I don't like white space, I just had to add another sheet of designer paper into the pot :-)

The dotty paper is from Fancy Pants Designs called Little Sprout.  The blue fan paper is from a Recollections stack called Cherry Blossoms.

Here is the first of three out of the sixteen cards.  I also didn't use the thin strips of paper, I used ribbon instead.  The sentiments on the first two cards are from two different magazine freebies.

The butterflies are from an InkaDinkaDo set, as is the "Thinking of You" sentiment.

The tiny little butterflies are from a Hollie Hobbie set, called Natures Walk (also a magazine freebie).

For the inside I added the same base layers as the front, plus the white central piece for writing on. There are those teeny tiny butterflies again :-)  I did the same for all three cards.  All the layers, on all the cards, have been edged with CTMH Sorbet ink.

I am so pleased with how these have turned out.  Glad I didn't leave the base of the card white!

There you have it, the first three done.  Only thirteen more to go :-)

I am entering these cards in the following challenges.

Eureka Stamps - Challenge #78: Add a Butterfly (closes 2 Mar)

Card Makin Mamas - Challenge CMM81: Stack it Up 3 layers or more (closes 6 Mar)

Love to Create - Challenge #104: Anything Goes (closes 2 Mar)

Just popping in to say Hi and to say that I got so tied up with the Olympics the last few days, that I have not been near the craft room :-(

However, I was up bright and early yesterday morning to see the Canada/Sweden final and to shout and cheer them on as they got Gold :-)

I hope you have all had a fabulous weekend.  I intend to hit the craft room today :-)!

Have a wonderful week everyone.

Celebrate the Winter!

Yep, in Canada we celebrate the Winter.  Well, if we didn't we would be a sad lot of people wouldn't we, as we have snow probably 6 months of the year :-)

Anyways, one of the big celebrations here in Ottawa, is Winterlude and it is a festival that celebrates Winter and has thousands of visitors each year.

Whilst Andy was home last weekend , he decided to take the girls to the Snow Kingdom and managed to get some photos taken.

Firstly this is my girls trying out for the bob-sleigh team for the 2018 Winter Olympics LOL!

Andy, of course, had to try out too!  However, he had great difficulty getting back out again and had to roll backwards to get out - ha ha ha !

Took some photos of just a few of the amazing ice sculptures too, I wish they would put a black background or tent as they would show up so much better!

I hope you can see the fabulous details on these sculptures!!

If you click on the photos they should come up a little bigger :-)

Aren't they fabulous.  If you want to see more about Winterlude click on the word.

So, just a bit of culture for you today :-)

Thanks for stopping by.

An Oriental Gift Box

Hi everyone!  How did your weekend go?  Ours was wonderful as Andy was home :-)  Yay!  Took him back to the airport yesterday though - booooo!

I am sharing this post over at She's A Sassy Lady today too.  Thanks Sheila for having me come visit each month and I'm sending you lots of hugs!

Anyways, I have finally got round to making a gift box for the Oriental cards I made the other week, using the Polkadoodles Dollie Daydream Goes East collection.  Remember these :-)

I wanted the box to look somewhat oriental and needed to fit the size of my DL cards, which are 8" by 3", plus the envelopes.  So I started off with a piece of cardboard from a package I had received.

It measures 9" by 4" and I bought some gold tissue to cover it.  I just wrapped it like a present.  Looks like a yummy bar of chocolate doesn't it :-)

For the underneath, I cut a piece of black card stock just a quarter of an inch smaller and stuck this over where I had stuck the tissue.  Therefore hiding any tape etc.

Next up was making the box to put the cards in.  I cut a piece of card stock 10 7/8" by 5 7/8".  Then scored this piece at 1.25" on all sides, and cut in tabs ready to make the box.

Made up the box and secured this to the gold base.

Next up, is the lid.  You will need an 11" by 6" piece of card stock, once again scored on all sides at 1.25".  For this piece, I also used my circle punch and just clipped out those little pieces for easy of lifting the lid off.

Now, in hind sight, I would recommend that you decorate the panels before you put the box together! But as I was experimenting with the size of the box and it worked, I didn't want to waste it, so I had to put the panels on after it was assembled, albeit a little fiddly :-)

I really didn't want to over embellish the box, as the papers are stunning in themselves.  However, I have added a couple of fans and the scroll.  All the papers and embellishments are from the Polkadoodles Dollie Daydream Goes East collection - it is available as a CD and also as a download bundle!

I scored the fans, added a little pearl dot and then rolled the scroll, to add some dimension to them.

And there you have it, a lovely box to give this set as a gift.

I hope you enjoyed your visit today.

Hubby's Valentines Card

Hi everyone.  Hope you are having a wonderful weekend.

Andy came home on Friday for the weekend, so we went out on a date night last night, to one of our favourite restaurants.  I wanted to show you the Valentines card I made for him.  I couldn't put it on my blog before I had given it to him, as he does occasionally check my blog :-)

I used the sketch from Deconstructing Jen to make my card.  I really liked this, after seeing Jessica's card on her blog, Chick-n-Scrap, using this sketch.

DS137 by the Deconstructed Sketch

Here is my card for hubby.  I am really not very good with sketches, as I think I tend to stick to them literally!  I am pleased with this one though, although I think I could have added some brads or something.

The papers were from a Momenta 6" by 6" paper stack (sorry I couldn't find a name anywhere), the papers for the hearts and flags were from a My Minds Eye 6" by 6", Love Me. The sentiment stamp is a Studio G stamp.

The hearts were from a cut file by Miss Kate Cuttables called Love Titles, just using the heart shape, cut 5 times with my Silhouette Cameo and then joined together.  I was inspired by Karen, at Kaleidoscopic Sparkles, she placed one of these hearts on her beautiful tag.

For the inside I used the same papers as the front and the sentiments are from a Doodlebug Designs set, called Love.

And finally one more look at the front :-)

Have a fabulous day everyone.

I am entering this card in the following challenges.

Something to share and it's not Oriental :-)

Hi everyone.  Happy Hump Day.  Gosh, I'm on count down here as Andy comes home Friday for the long Family Day weekend , yay!  We might even get a date night on Saturday and go out for a nice meal together :-)

Kris from Imagine That! Digis by Kris, kindly asked if I would like to have a play with the new February Release.  There are some wonderful digis to choose from and I decided to have a play with the flowers.

I have been seeing these box cards on some of the blogs I follow and I just had to give it a go.  The tutorial for these can be found at Splitcoast Stampers.

I used Daffodil and Queen Anne's Lace for my creation.  I used the pre-coloured images and cut them out with my Silhouette Cameo.  You also get black and white digis in the sets, for you to colour.  Also with the purchase of any flower digi, you will receive "Sentiment Thoughts" a set of 9 Sentiments too.

I so loved making this box card - it comes together so easily.  Here's a close up of those fabulous flowers.

I actually needed a Mother's Day card so this is the back of the card.

You are probably thinking that it's a bit early for Mother's Day.  Well, Andy's Mum is in the UK and, Mothers Day is in March.  Also the Daffodils are quite appropriate, for March 1st is St Davids Day in Wales (where I am originally from) and is the Welsh Flower.

Kris also runs a challenge blog if your interested in popping along.  Imagine That...Digis by Kris Progressive Challenge and Inspiration Blog.  The DT make fabulous creations for your inspiration.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Happy crafting.

The Last Oriental card.... for now :-)

Hi everyone.  Hope the start of your week is going well.  I have Emily home from school, she has a bit of a chesty cough and with temps at -20c (-4f), I don't want her going out at recess.  Just in case you were wondering, the cut off here for keeping them in at recess is it has to be colder than -25c (-13f).

Another fabulous sentiment off this amazing CD - Polkadoodles Dollie Daydream Goes East.

I love all the different embellishments that are on this CD, there are pre-coloured ones like I have used, but they also come as black and white so that you can colour them yourselves.

Once again, I digitally paper pieced her dress in Silhouette Design Studio and then coloured the rest of her with my pencils. All the embellishments and sentiment ticket were cut using the Silhouette.

I popped up the image to add a little depth, the sentiment is slightly curved so as not to lay flat and just stuck the body of the butterfly to the ticket.

Finishing off the inside with the same layers as the front and a sentiment scroll.

And that is the end of the series of my tall cards.  I hope to make a gift box for these later in the week.

Have a fabulous week everyone.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Happy crafting.
