Fabulous Friday - Vintage Santa Gift Box

Hi everyone.  It's Friday!  Only 7 more sleeps till Christmas Day :-)

Hope you are all doing well and getting ready and enjoying the Holiday Season.

Today's card is for the new Challenge starting at Polkadoodles.  Our theme is Anything Goes, everyone's favourite, and you will be able to enter until the 15 January, 2016.  The Design Team is taking a little break over the festive season and we'll be back on the 8th January with and inspirational post :-)

For my card today I used a wonderful tutorial by Cristi of Paper Hoarder Disorder on You Tube.  She made this wonderful chip-board easel card.  I didn't use chip board for my card, just 100lb card stock, but I was still happy with how well it came together.  Here's the LINK :-)

I have used the wonderful Polkadoodles Studio 12 Picknix 3 - Nordic Winter collection and the fabulous Vintage Father Christmas :-)  I think I am obsessed with this collection LOL!

I love the fabulous papers and inked all the edges of all the elements.

I added a little Sakura Glitter Gel Pen and then also used the Merry Christmas cut file off the collection, to add to the bottom of the top layer.

I adore this Father Christmas, with his lovely rosy cheeks.  Nikky's art work is gorgeous! I cut all my pieces for this project using my Silhouette Cameo.  Popped up Father Christmas on some foam tape to add some dimension.

Would you like to see what is in the drawer?

Nine Christmassy Chocolates for all to eat :-)  I think I might even use this type of box to make some special gifts ;-)

Hope you have enjoyed your visit today :-)  I love this box :-)

I am entering this card in the following challenges.

A Snowflakes Promise - Challenge #12: Christmas/Winter (closes 28 Dec)

Crafty Girlz Challenges - Challenge #10: Anything Goes (closes 14 Jan)

Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenge - Challenge #258: Anything Goes (closes 22 Dec)

Hello Thursday - Let it Snow!

Hello everyone.  Not long now till that man in red makes his way around the world, in super speedy time!

I still have some gifts to get, all the wrapping has to be done and we are still missing something on the ground outside!  No snow!!

So, my friends, if you have snow where you are - could you please send some our way.  Just for Christmas - that would be fine - thank you :-)

Anyway, on to today's post.  A new Challenge is starting over at Emerald Creek Dares our theme is Happy Holidays.  We were asked to design something that would send our Holidays Wishes to all of you out there in blog land!

I have one wish for you all - that you have the most amazing Holiday Season, that you are able to get together with friends and family that you hold dear.

I also would like it to snow!  Hence Let it Snow on the front of my card today using the wonderful stamp from Emerald Creek and some silver embossing powder.

Now, this is not just some ordinary card, I have made a book box card.  I used the tutorial from Beccy's Place, but changed the measurements to make my 5" by 5" card and a little deeper too!  The measurements needed for this size card are as follows:

For the card base, you need a 10 7/8" by 5" piece of card stock.  You will score this on the long edge at 5" and 5 7/8" this will give you a 7/8" spine.  For the box element you will need 4 strips of card stock that measure 8" by 4 6/8" and you will score all of them along the long edge at every 1/2". Concertina the folds, starting and ending with a mountain fold.  If you refer to Beccy's tutorial she has great photo's to show you how to link the box pieces.  It's a little fiddly with the narrower folds but it turns out wonderfully :-)  After folding, I inked all the edges of the folds with Vintage Photo Distress ink - it's easier to do this before you fix them together and I did both sides.

All the papers for my project are from the wonderful Polkadoodles Studio 12 Picknix 3 - Nordic Winter collection.

The wonderful wreath on the front was made using some foliage from Polkadoodles Frosted Winter collection. I printed and cut (using my Silhouette Cameo) making three layers and inking all the edges of all the layers, with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

The wreath has been decorated with Pine Cone Charms, Mini Victorian Snowflake on the white tulle bow and the wonderful Squirrel Charm from Emerald Creek. Of course I had to add some glitter, and textured snow!

Now then, here is the inside of my book box card.  The left panel is for a message to be left.  The inside of the box holds this wonderful paper wreath.  In the centre of which I have added another Mini Victorian Snowflake.

Closer look at the wreath and the depth of the box.

There is something special about this card.  Here is the back of the card - it might give you a clue ;-) I used one of the beautiful Victorian Snowflakes to secure the ribbon.

You see, it's extra special because that paper wreath can be removed from the card!  It is a Christmas ornament to be hung on the tree!  When you remove the ornament, you have the Christmas sentiment underneath :-)  The paper wreath is all hand made using the same papers as the card, each little cone is just 1.75" in length!  The finished ornament is 3.5" in size.

And a close up of the ornament :-)

Other than the box element of the card, I designed the rest using my Silhouette Cameo and Design Studio, and am pleased how it all came together in the end :-)

I hope you enjoyed stopping by today.  Why not go and check out what my fabulous teamies have been up to as well, and enter the challenge over at Emerald Creek Dares.  You could win a $25 gift certificate to the Emerald Creek Store!

Sneaky Peeky Sunday and some Life :-)

Hello everyone. How is your Sunday?

As you all know I live in Canada, well at the moment you would think not!  We have not one flake of snow on the ground here in Kanata, nothing, nada, nowt!

I want snow!  And I will probably live to regret announcing that LOL!  What is the weather like where you are?

I wanted to share these lovely photo's of my two girls looking all so grown up. They were off out for their Christmas dance at school, this past Friday and of course a photo session ensued :-)

The first one I took with my camera - the other two, my husband took with his phone.  I think I will give up using the camera LOL!

Oh and the Christmas tree is up and they were left to decorate it and they did a fabulous job, don't you think :-)

So proud of both of them, such young ladies now - where does the time go!

Anyway, had a busy time in the craft room this past couple of days. I have a little sneak peek of a card that I have made for this Thursday.

That's all you get LOL!

Hope you are having a wonderful weekend.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Happy crafting.

Fabulous Friday - Traditional Christmas

Well hello there!  Gosh I have had such a great week this week, crafting and getting on with things. How about you?

My winner from the Visions of Sugarplums blog hop (day 3) is at the end of this post.

Today is inspiration week at Polkadoodles for our Traditional Christmas challenge. The design team have some fabulous creations to share with you.

For my card today, I used the wonderful Polkadoodles Studio 12 Picknix 2 - Gingerbread Twist Collection.

I took the scene from the collection and then made a window frame using my Silhouette Cameo.

I also created a flatter version too :-)

Back to the original.  I layered up the window frame onto foam tape to add some depth.  Took some of the wonderful holly, and added a little banner on the windowsill and corner of the window.

For the inside, using the same papers, but I also used the holly frame from the collection to surround my message panel. I also inked all the edges of all the layers.

There you have it a card with a lovely winter scene to look out at.

And here's the two side by side.  One fat, one thin again LOL!

Oh yes, while I remember.  I took all the comments left on my blog on Tuesday (Day 3 of the Visions of Sugarplums Blog Hop) and numbered them in order as received.  Then used Random org to choose a number for my winner of the $10 to the Polkadoodles download store.

My winner is......

Hello Thursday - Panic over.. sort of!

Hello everyone.  Thank you all for your fabulous visiting and wonderful comments! I hope I have caught up with visiting my bloggie friends over the last few days! Way behind!

Anyways, I had a major panic on earlier in the week.  Last day of posting letters/cards to Europe came, and boy did I not have enough flat (postage costs are terrible) cards to send out to family and friends.  I am seriously asking for email addys off everyone ready for next year.  When will the Post offices learn - the more they charge, the less people will send so the more they charge!!  Surely if they charged less, people may return to posting again!?

Well, back to my post :-)  Why oh why have I never thought of this before!  I use my Silhouette Cameo for a lot of things and love using the Design program.  All my recent cards have used my Silhouette for cutting out everything!  So, I figured why not make a completely flat card, layering the embellishments and filling layers with the patterned papers etc.

I designed/created an outside layer and a layer for the inside, using elements from the wonderful Polkadoodles Studio 12 Picknix 3 - Nordic Winter collection.

I then printed, cut, inked, stuck and made 10 cards in just over an hour - yay!  Yep there was no way I was going to buy Christmas cards :-)

Card 1 - using one of the fabulous Christmas trees and great sentiments.  All I added to this was the inked edges and a little Sakura Stardust Gel Pen.

Card 2 - couldn't resist using that fabulous robin again!  Adding just a little sparkle to the snowflakes.

Card 3 - Using that amazing vintage Santa :-)  Again, just a little sparkle to surround him and give that glittery Chrismassy feel :-)

For the insides just using similar papers, creating a message panel and adding smaller versions of the image.  All done.

They were perfect for sending and they have already been sent in the post.  Check 1 less thing to do!

There you have it - 10 quick cards all done and dusted :-)

I have a few other things that need to get done,  A gift in the making that I can't show you until after Christmas.  Some Design team creations still to share.

I will be back tomorrow with more Polkadoodles inspiration and the winner from Day 3 of the Sugarplums hop on my blog :-)

Thanks for all your comments and for stopping by.

Happy crafting.

Visions of Sugarplums 2015 - Day 3

Hello everyone!  Welcome to the last day of Visions of Sugarplums 2015 Blog Hop.

You should have arrived from Char's blog.  If you have got lost and need to go to the start, the list is at the end of this post.

I hope that you have all enjoyed the fabulous inspiration and hope that you are busy getting ready for the Holiday Season.  I have to admit I'm glad I took part in the blog hop, as I was struggling to get my mojo on and get my cards made this year!

Before I show you my latest Christmas inspiration, I would like to let you know that Nikky of Polkadoodles is kindly giving a $10 gift for the Polkadoodles Download store, to someone who comments on my blog today.  I will draw the winner by Random Org on Friday 11th December and let you know in my post for that day.

My last makes for the blog hop are Christmas Tags.  Once again I have used the wonderful Polkadoodles Picknix 3 - Nordic Winter collection for all the tags I have made.

For my first one, using one of the tags from the collection, I used these wonderful bells.  I cut and layered them twice and then added some silvery glitter.

Everything is from the collection, including the wonderful sentiments.  However, the vintage snowflake is from Emerald Creek

Next up, I couldn't resist using the wonderful reindeer.  Using my Silhouette Cameo to cut out all these tags and embellishments.

I couldn't resist adding gem to one of the noses and another vintage snowflake from Emerald Creek.

I love the poinsettias in this collection and the fabulous leaves.

Adding a little sparkle to the poinsettia with some glitter.

I adore all the wonderful papers and the fabulous embellishments in this collection, the embellishments themselves make fabulous additions to any card or creation.

I layered up the tree and added a little sparkle to the star with some glitter.

And there you have it, 4 tags to add some special sparkle to a wrapped Christmas present.

We have some wonderful sponsors for this years Visions of Sugarplums.  To be in the chance of winning these fabulous prizes you should pop along and comment on the blogs in the hop.  The more comments you leave (an entry for every comment) the more chance you have in winning!
