Made it Monday #7 - Milking Time :-)

Hello. Happy Monday fellow crafters and bloggers :-)

Did you all have a good weekend?  We are getting ready for Shannon to leave on her exchange trip this Wednesday.  She is off to Spain :-)  She is getting quite excited now, only two more sleeps :-)

No Sneak Peek Sunday, yesterday cause, well, there wasn't anything to show you :-(  Never mind, back at it today.

I disappeared into the craft room this morning.  Needed to get a DT card made for Friday and then had a little time left to make todays card too.

When I first got into card making many moons ago, I used to do a lot of layered (decoupage/3D) cards.  But then life stepped in and we emigrated, and when I started back up with cards detailed layering seemed to not be done as much. However, I have really enjoyed doing these last lot of cards, it's fun deciding where to cut the layers etc.

Also, I wanted to clarify something.  Some people have left a compliment (thanks) saying how fabulous my colouring is - however, I do state in my posts that they have been pre-coloured (like todays) by Nikky, Polkadoodles, boss lady :-)

I go through different stages with colouring - sometimes I do a good one, other times they just end up in the bin LOL!

Anyhows, on to todays card.

I have used another fabulous pre-coloured digi from the new Work and Play 10 - Country Life.

I made a spring fold card again today.  Everything is from this wonderful new collection.

Aren't those little cats, adorable - they come as digis too - for you to colour if you wish.

I did a close up shot, to show the depth.

I inked all the edges of all the layers and then added some pearl dots to the butterfly and the flower in her hair.

Thanks so much for taking the time to visit my blog and leaving all your fabulous comments.  Once again, I am playing catch up on visiting your blogs, so will be around soon :-)

I am entering this card in the following challenges.

Sketch It Saturday - Relax

Hi everyone.

It's Saturday!  Andy is out with Shannon, looking at new cars - we maybe replacing ours, we will see :-)

Emily has just got out of bed - hey Saturday is relax day :-)

I have been in the craft room - say Yay!

For my card today I am using the March, week 4 sketch at Viva La Verve.

Our Nikky, at Polkadoodles has been at it again.  I can't believe she has another new release for you.

And here is my card.  I have used a pre-coloured digi, also available in black and white for you to colour, as are all the digis in the Polkadoodles collections.  More links below.

I love the detail on these digitals and Nikky's amazing colouring!  Decided to make it look 3D by doing a little decoupage.

For the inside I used the same papers.  I had a spare digi cut out, so used the branch and squirrel to decorate the inside too.

Here is an angled shot, to show more of the depth.

I inked all the edges of all the layers with CTMH Sorbet.  A little ticket sentiment to finish off.

I have not over embellished this, as I wanted the focus on that fabulous image.  Everything on this card is from this wonderful new release.

I am entering this card in the following challenges.

Thursday, 26 March 2015

Well, Hello Thursday!

Hi everyone.

Just popping in to say hi ----  "Hi!!"  :-)

Really don't know where the last couple of weeks have gone.  Been a bit hectic round here.

I have been helping a friend (who lost her husband last Aug) to clean up after some major renos, and also helping to sort out tons of stuff.

Also, Shannon goes to Spain in 6 days, on her exchange trip with school, so we are getting ready for that too.

I hope to get in the craft room this weekend though :-)

I trust that you are all doing well and today I am going to try and catch up on some much need visiting of your blogs, to see what you have all been up to.

I do have something to share with you - Andy managed to finish another teeny bridge.

This one is the Brooklyn Bridge.

Thanks for all the comments and support of my blog - really appreciate each and every one of you.

Have a great day.

Happy crafting.

Sketch it Saturday - Maisie

Helloooo!  Have you all had a great week.  It was March break here - so didn't get too much time in the craft room.

Andy has taken the girls to the cinema this morning to see Insurgent - so I could have some quiet time in the craft room :-)

I am using the March, week 3 sketch at Viva la Verve.

I have been having more fun with some of the older collections at Polkadoodles - this one is a little character called Maisie off of the fabulous Cherryblossom Lane collection.

This is such a wonderful collection, full of rabbits, yet not only usable for Easter, but every other occasion you could think of too.

Isn't she sweet!

She was a pre-coloured topper, but I also printed out the pre-coloured image of Maisie and then decoupaged her.  Just remind me not to print them out so small.  That little image is just over 2" tall, so you can imagine how small the teen pieces are!

I inked all the edges of all the layers, and for my circle layer,  just added a doily.

That's it from me today.  Off out soon, as it won't be long before they are back from the cinema.

I am entering this card in the following challenges.

What's new Wednesday - Exploding Handbag plus...

Hi everyone!  Happy Hump Day.

I had a little time this morning, before having to take Emily for a hair appt - she has had a beautiful red/violet highlight/stripe coloured in her hair :-)

I wanted to have a go at this fabulous Exploding Handbag that is on Splitcoast Stampers this week - here is the link to the tutorial.

Now you should all know me by now, in that I do like to see if I can make things smaller and also using 8.5" by 11 paper instead of the 12" by 12".

Anyhow what I have to share with you today are 3 of these bags, but just the bags.  I am going to decorate some up later in the week.

I have also done a quick table - for the paper sizes you need to make them all - but please follow Liz Walker's tutorial in the link above, for how to assemble and scoring etc.

This is the small bag open.

This would be a perfect size to fit a couple of treats inside.

And then the Large (as per the original tutorial) - base of the box is 4" by 4", Medium - base of the box is 2 3/4" by 2 3/4", and Small - base of the box is 2" by 2", all together.

I think these have so many uses, party favours, wedding gifts, baby shower - you name it!  Just use different papers etc depending on your theme.

I might even make those handles a little smaller - but then that would be up to you :-)

Here is the table I mentioned with Paper sizes and score details.  If you watch the tutorial, these should make sense LOL!

I have this for my records now - so will show you some made up bags hopefully later in the week :-)

So, a quick post today.

Shannon has her hair appointment tomorrow, she is having her hair high-lighted/low lighted what ever :-).  Only two weeks before she is off to Spain!

Hope you are all having a great week so far.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Happy crafting.

Made it Monday #6 - A quick..ish card

Hi everyone.  Happy Monday.

We are on March break this week so the girls are having a moochy day - pyjamas only day.  They had a good lay in this morning.  Me - nope, up at the crack of dawn - 5:30am, body clock hates me and doesn't know we are on a break LOL!

Anyhow, whilst they were still in bed I headed off to the craft room.  I decided I would take a look at some of the paper stacks I have and see if I can make some quick cards from there.

Today's quick easel card, is using the DCWV The Tradewinds Stack.

I used two of the same sheets to layer up the butterfly and key element.

I kept the card very simple, with no added embellishments - great for posting!  Distressed all the edges and inked them up with CTMH Outdoor Denim.

Just cutting out and layering the top panel - gives it a little bit more depth.  These are lovely papers that have foil elements added to them, like here - the butterfly and key.

For the little sentiment panel, I used some navy card stock and then some Perfect Pearls Heirloom Gold.  I think the sentiment is perfect, because of the map on the papers.

I think this could be a great - just because card :-)

So, there you have it - when you need a quick card - go to your paper stacks and see what you can find.

Sketch It Saturday - Last of Etty..

For a while, well maybe... :-)

Hello everyone.  It is the start of March break here, so the girls have a lovely week off school.  We aren't going anywhere, but we will know doubt get up to a few bits.

We have been out running some errands, but we had a late start.  I managed to get all the pieces ready before we left and then just finished putting it together to share with you all.

I am using the March, Week 2 sketch at Viva la Verve.

I have one last card featuring the fabulous Etty from the wonderful Winston Deluxe Papercrafting collection.

I have so enjoyed using these wonderful pre-coloured images.  I think I have managed the sketch :-)

Once again inking all the edges of all the layers, even the embellishments, with Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress Ink.

For the inside, the same papers and a message panel with a little heart added.

I haven't been using my Cameo for these last few cards, I found it quite relaxing to spend the time actually cutting all the decoupage pieces out by hand.

Adding some Flourish with a Bling Pearl dots to the butterfly and the one flower.

Well, I hope you all have a fabulous rest of the weekend.

Fabulous Friday - Birthday Wishes - it's a man thing!

Hellooo!!  Seems this week has just gone!

I didn't get time to do a What's new Wednesday and then I was going to make it Thursday - but hey life got in the way for a little while :-)

Today is the start of a new challenge over at Polkadoodles, it's a really easy one - Birthday's!

It's someones birthday every day of the year, and I know you all have cards to make - so get making :-)

I decided to get ahead and make Andy's birthday card for May - at least I then know it's done.  I used the pre-coloured images of Winston off one of the Design sheets.

Another Z fold card, seems to be a goodie to go to at them moment.  So easy! Take a pre-folded card, this is 6.5" by 5" and fold the top half in half LOL!.  That is it, then add your panels.

As you can see I layered up Winston in his fishing boat.  Added a little bit of black cotton for the fishing line, and a little Glossy Accents to the fish bait.

I love inking the edges of the layers and the image layers with Tim Holtz Tea Dye distress ink, so much so that I have to go buy a re-inker for it :-)

For the inside I added a message panel and layered up the papers, and added some paper buttons too.

This would also make a good retirement card, I think.  Long way off for Andy yet LOL!

I have been thoroughly enjoying the decoupage layers lately.  Takes a little time but the finished result is so wonderful.

So, now you go off and get some birthday card's made and come along and enter our Birthday's challenge.  You have until the 27th March to enter and remember you do not need to use Polkadoodles products to enter our challenges.  You could win the whole download bundle of the fabulous new Eden collection.
