I have been able to spend quite a bit of time in the craft room this last week. And it was good to be crafty.
I hope that you are all having a great week so far.
I have another fabulous make today from the new Polkadoodles release Frosted Winter - Octavia. I have made a little gift set of 4" by 4" cards and envelopes and a little box to put them in.
The tutorial is for the box, now this box is to fit the 4" by 4" cards and envelopes. I also have tutorials for a box that will fit 3" by 3" cards and envelopes HERE and another to fit cards 6" by 4" cards and envelopes HERE. So that should cover all the bases (for now) :-)
The principles of all the boxes are the same, it's just the measurements that are different.
So, here is the gift set I made.
More details and photo's later.
Now for the tutorial for the box :-)
You will need an 11" by 8.5" piece of card stock for this box. Start off by cutting your piece to size at 11" by 7.5". Keep the 1" by 11" piece for later!
Your set of scores along the long edge are - 3", 3 3/4", 8 1/4" and 9"
Now score along the short edge at 3/4", 1 1/2", 6" and 6.75". That's all the scoring completed.
Now you want to remove four corner pieces so that you piece looks like the one below. Cut into the side flaps as indicated - at the 8 1/4 inch score line to the second score line in, on both sides, these form the flaps. I have also used my corner rounder to finish off the edges as indicated by the little arrows.
I would suggest decorating any outside panels before you make up the box, it can be done once it's made, but it's a little more fiddly.
Once you are ready to assemble your box. Position tape/glue where indicated my the red hashes.
Secure the tabs to the inside tape.
Fold those outer flaps down and bring up the bottom flap to secure. Your box should look like this :-)
That left over piece is the belly band for your box. You can make it narrower if you wish, whatever you want to work with.
You will need to score this at 2 3/8", 3 1/4", 7 3/4" and 8 5/8".
When you wrap this around your box - do not secure it to tightly as you want to be able to take it off and on. I usually secure it on the last cm and find that is usually enough, adding a panel of printed papers to the band to give that little bit more strength and covers the join too :-)
Here are a few more photo's of the set. The box :-)
The set of four cards.
I have shown you a close up of each of the cards. These are just using the fabulous backing papers off the collection!! I added some glitter to the snow flakes on each of the cards and inked all the distressed edges. I was able to add the sentiments from the CD, on to the backing papers, so they make the perfect quick card too!
For the inside, I used another of the backing papers and a little gift box. They all have the same inner panel.
I made four little envelopes using the same card stock as the base of the cards.
The four cards and envelopes fit perfectly in the box.
And here is the set once again :-)
