Simply Saturday - Tim's 12 Tags 2016, January

Well hello there everyone.  Hope you are having a good weekend.

I am on hair curling duty later, Shannon is off out to a Youth Gala :-)

But before I have to do that, I thought I would spend sometime in the craft room, just for me :-)

I thought I would get a little messy and have a go at the Tim Holtz Tag for January.  Now I can't guarantee that I will do any more.  But, it's a start!

I don't have a lot of the correct products, but I gave it a go.

I did have the #8 tag, but the only type foil I had was some sticky back shelf liner!

So, I used the shelf liner and then embossed the tag with a Darice Steampunk embossing folder. And then using Tim's industrial technique for the metal I used the Distress Paint Black Soot.

Now, do you think  I could find a bit of chalk for the chalkboard element - nope, more on that in a minute.

After embossing the Stampendous Steampunk Owl in Ranger extra fine embossing powder (I didn't have what Tim recommended), what do you think I used for the chalk board effect?

Have you guessed what I used instead of chalk?  Well, I used good old talc! It did end up everywhere though.  But at least my tag smells nice LOL!

I added a little metal arrow and Dream tag, which I painted with a little of the Distress Paint Picket Fence.

I couldn't resist adding a little layer to his hat and fob watch, and wanted a little bit of colour :-)

So, I know I wasn't able to get exactly the effect Tim did, but I'm pleased with how it turned out.

And of course, whilst I was tidying up - what did I find - some white chalk!  Ah well, I know for next time LOL!

Have a wonderful rest of the weekend.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Happy crafting.

Fabulous Friday - Love & Romance

Hi everyone!  Happy Friday!

Last day of exams for the girls today - and back to normal from Tuesday and the start of Semester 2. Countdown is on too, as Shannon graduates High School this year.  We have her prom dress, we still have to get shoes and then probably have the dress shortened a little.  Can't show you the dress just yet - you'll have to wait :-)

Anyways, lets get on with today's post.  We have a new challenge starting over at Polkadoodles and our theme for this fortnight is Love and Romance - so anything Valentines, Anniversary, Wedding or creations with hearts should fit the bill.

Andy's nephew got married last year and I decided to make a book fold for them.  Yes you read that correctly, last year!  However, Andy went back to the UK the other week and so I made the gift so that he could take it back with him :-)

I have used papers and embellishments from the fabulous Work & Play 9 - Love & Kisses collection. to decorate the sides and spine of the book!  The photo's I managed to get the bride to email me so that I could print them out, she didn't know what they were for ;-)

I found the perfect ribbon too to go around the top and bottom.

Oh, Did you want to see the book fold LOL!  I had purchased this Book fold pattern from Crafty Hana and her Etsy store.

Perfect for the newly weds, don't you think?  I loved how the book already had the fabulous red inside cover too!

For the top to cover the back spine opening,  I used my Heartfelt Creations Vintage Floret Dies to make the flower.

So why don't you go along an enter our challenge for this fortnight.  Valentines is not long off, so I know you will all be busy making things!

I am entering this creation in the following challenges.

Fabulous Friday - Winter Birthday

Happy Friday.  Hubby has been away in the UK, this week, helping his brother move their Mum to a new place.  He comes home tomorrow - yay!

We are into inspiration week for our challenge at Polkadoodles and the current theme is Winter Birthday.

I chose to use papers and a sentiment from the wonderful Studio 12 Picknix 2 - Gingerbread Twist collection.  I also had to use the Mojo Monday Sketch from their challenge this week.

I love this sentiment.  I added a small square faux shaker element and then added a plain metal snowflake from my stash.

All the layers were distressed and inked up.  There are little tiny stars in the shake element.

For the inside I used the same papers as the front and a sentiment from another Polkadoodles collection Fredericka.  It's always good to look through the older collections because you never know what you might find :-)

I love these papers and it shows that snowflakes aren't just for Christmas :-)

I added a little foam tape to the back of the shaker element to raise it up a little and then finished off the front with some pearl dots.

Now it's your turn to get creative and enter our Winter Birthday challenge over at Polkadoodles.

I am entering this card in the following challenges.

Hello Thursday - A Non Valentine - Valentine!

Hi everyone.  Isn't January just wizzing by!

Today I have a new post for Emerald Creek Dares and our new challenge.  Our Design Team prompt was to make something for a single person, so a valentines of sorts, but yet not a valentine :-)  So use reds and greys in your creations and throw in a heart in an unusual way if you can, then enter our challenge!

I have to let you know that I have decided to step down from the Emerald Creek Design team, for personal reasons.  So this will be my last post for Kim.  I want to thank her for giving me the fabulous opportunity to work with such an amazing product, to be on her very first Design Team was a privilege and just an amazing team to work with.  Thank you Kim xxx

I found this lovely quote whilst surfing - it has an anonymous author so can't give credit - but whomever you may be - thank you :-)

Love is like a butterfly
It goes where it pleases
and please where it goes.

So using this quote I came up with this card.  I think it works to give to someone single, don't you?!

It is a faux shaker card and a side easel card.  I have used a butterfly cut file from Birds Cards.  All my papers are from Polkadoodles Octavia - Frosted Winter collection.

The blossom on the butterfly is the fabulous new Fallen Blossom by Nicole Wrights Designs (Emerald Creek).  I had these left over from my previous cards.

The sentiment on the piece that holds the easel card in position - is by little old me :-)

I had to add some of the gorgeous Emerald Creek Butterfly brads to the card at the top and on the stopper. You can see the shaker element peeking behind, they are hearts.  And did you notice that behind the blossoms are hearts too :-)

I curled the edge of the top butterfly just to give it some dimension.  All the edges of all the layers were inked with Distress Ink Pad - Vintage Photo.

That's my little bit of inspiration for you.

So now it's your turn to enter our latest challenge over at Emerald Creek Dares and you could win a $25 gift certificate to the Emerald Creek store.

You have to go check out what the Design Team have made too - they are amazing creations!

Thanks for stopping by today.

Happy crafting.

Day 3 - CHA release for Emerald Creek

Welcome back everyone.

My final little inspiration for Emerald Creek and Nicole Wright Designs at CHA 2016.  Todays, creation is another shaker card.

Once again I returned to using the Fallen Blossom stamp set, new release.

I started off creating my background element by using some Distress Ink pads - I used Stormy Sky, Spiced Marmalade and Fired Brick.

For my card, I once again used papers from Polkadoodles Dollie Daydream Goes East collection.

The black silhouette couple, was an image I searched for ages to find that was free - and eventually found it here at Pamela's blog.  I imported it into Silhouette Design Studio and cut it out of black card stock.

For the inside, I used the same papers and continued the circle theme, from the front, for my message panel and added some of the wonderful Fallen Blossom (Nicole Wright Designs at Emerald Creek).

All the edges of all the layers were inked with Distress Ink Pad - Vintage Photo.

I added some foam tape to some of the flowers to add a little dimension, and a little metal dragonfly brad by the Happy Anniversary.  The shaker element was a mix of stars and hearts, and finishing off the front with the wonderful sentiment stamp from the set.

I hope you have enjoyed my little collection of inspiration for the CHA new releases.  Would you like to get the chance to win a $25 gift certificate to the Emerald Creek store.  Then why not go along and enter our latest challenge, the theme is Anything New :-)

Thanks for stopping by today.

Happy crafting.

Sneaky Peeky Sunday - Day 2 of CHA release for Emerald Creek

Hi Everyone.  Did you enjoy yesterdays creation?

I have another new Emerald Creek Craft Supplies and Nicole Wright Designs creation for you today. They are loving CHA, and I am totally wanting to be there with them!

For today's card I used another new stamp set by Nicole called Upstream.

Once again, I used Tim Holtz Distress Markers and watercoloured the images.  I used Fired Brick and Spiced Marmalade.

After scanning and using Silhouette Design Studio to cut out multiple images.

Then I got all the pieces I would need to make my card.  The little water reeds are actually a flourish from the Polkadoodles Bonbon Belles collection.

For my card today, I have tried something I first came across at Andie's blog Contagiously Crafty.  It is a faux shaker card.  She used, as did I, a tutorial by Jennifer McGuire and HERE is the link to the tutorial.

I added the little fishes to the shaker element, and all the papers are from the Polkadoodles Dollie Daydream Goes East collection.

Inking all the edges of all the layers, and the fish, with Distress Ink Pad - Vintage Photo.  For the inside I added two little Koi at the edge of the message panel.

Love how this turned out and so easy to add the shaker element.

I also added a dragonfly to the scroll sentiment again :-)

Would you like the chance to win a $25 gift certificate to the Emerald Creek store, then why not go along and enter our latest challenge, the theme is Anything New :-)

Thanks so much for stopping by today, I hope you will pop back again tomorrow for Day 3 :-)

I would like to apologize for the quality of the photos - they are really crisp on my computer, but for some reason blogger is altering them.  I think if you click on the photo and enlarge they should look a lot crisper.  Maybe :-)

Happy crafting.
